Hi All,
To achieve a better overview and easy access to all important content in the GoG2:ACE board and to advice new players in their starting strategy for spending gold and medals I made this introduction with links to other threads in this board. Since after the addition of Alpha and Epsilon more strategies were needed and discussed and more info was added I updated this file at the 23th of May 2016. If needed I will update it again ofc.
Overview
Most of the game speaks for itself. So I will not make a complete tutorial. You start with the first tutorial levels in Europe (a.d. 1975). Europe has 12 battles, which are pretty straight forward and easy. You don’t need any general, upgraded unit or tactic card. It has also 4 challenges and 2 regions in which you can do missions. It is really a warming up and getting used to the new game. After some battles you will get your first unit (tank) and later in this continent you can unlock another tank, an artillery unit and a boat. Finishing all battles and the final battle you will achieve your first general (Angel) and unlock the European bank which gives you gold every 8 hours. After finishing a continent you unlock a new continent that has a new general to obtain and new units to unlock.
Start
First you choose a fraction. At the moment the story line is very thin and no specification about factions is there. So choose any flag that you like. Till this point no advantages or disadvantages have been discovered. european-war-4.boards.net/post/31782/thread
Campaign, challenge and battle list
All campaigns, challenges and battles are listed in this thread. european-war-4.boards.net/post/29696/thread
This gives you a summary of the number of battles in each continent. Since a lot of battles are very easy, especially in the beginning and there are different ways to achieve your objective we decided not to make from all battle a guide. On request we made guides and links to them are also placed here. If you are struggling with a battle and there is no guide yet. Just make a new thread with the battle name in it and we will try to help you out.
General advice is that upgrading your units just by experience (playing and by KO your XP will be increased and every gain in level will give your unit more health) . european-war-4.boards.net/post/33389/thread. Moreover, you can use tactical cards, which can be bought at the tactical center for gold and medals (don’t use your medal on it!) european-war-4.boards.net/post/29826
Additional advice from Erich von Manstein : The tech mostly will increase the health, for forts, lvl 2,5,6 are pretty profitable, because you can get some OP weapons. For generals, raising to lvl 7 is profitable, my suggestion is that buy components with medals AFTER lvl 7 Angel& Guardian, and lvl 4 Duke. Some of the tactical cards are useful, but I'm not sure if it is a good choice to spend medals on it or not(trick, you can cloud save, use the Radar card at the beginning of the campaign, then reload the previous data, and the card will not be spent.)
Missions
At every continent there are battle regions which are in which the AI plays with your units. In the end all levels can be past when you got the correct units and enough upgrades in combination with strong generals. Doing these missions is not a waste of time since a 3 star gives you components. Wins give you gold and 15-24-30 stars in these regions will give you green chips or core (later)
Units
Each continent has some unit bases in which two units are available for purchase (its free). These units are very important since every battle, challenge, mission and PvP (player vs player) battles these units can be chosen from the beginning (more info later). These units can be upgraded.
Erich von Manstein started a thread in which he compares the units and gives you advice which one you should choose. This can be find here: european-war-4.boards.net/post/42334/thread
Until it is completed by Manstein these links can give you an overview on the amount and which units you can obtain until the asian continent. Antartica, Alpha and Epsilon will not give you new units. BTW I did not always choose wisely on my units!

Real money units
Of course you can buy medals and gold bars in the shop. Indirectly you buy also units. These are very strong. Personally, I advice to get the Mammoth from the beginning to train him. In PvP without it you will stuck very quickly. To finish the game including Antartica it is not necessary (I did without it). Fighting against Zeus is really a pain in the …. european-war-4.boards.net/post/29770/thread and european-war-4.boards.net/post/49856/thread
Components for unit upgrade
Each unit has specific abilities which you can review when you enter your warehouse by the tank button in the down left corner of your screen. Using compartments you can upgrade your units up to max level 9. Compartments can be obtained by winning battles, challenges, PvP matches and missions. They can also be bought by gold and medals at the war factories in each continent: european-war-4.boards.net/post/29825/thread
My advice is to read the info Erich von Manstein provides when reasoning the unit choice and in the beginning don’t spend any gold or medal for components. In the middle game you can start using gold for some important compartments that can significantly increase your main and strongest units. At this point using medals for compartments is not my advice, since they can be used for more important things (general and core). Components can also be bought using gold bars that can be bought for real money. I have no experience with this (http://european-war-4.boards.net/post/29770/thread). In the end game after enough shield and and strong enough generals I advice to use medals to get components to strengthen your major units.
Green chips for evolution your units (ACE-ing)
Very important is to gain lots of green chips in the begin phase of your game to evolve your units (this is giving them more stars and in the end ACE them). Green chips can be obtained by missions, PvP, and winning a specific number of Arena wins. They can also be traded for medals at the market, which is first unlocked in middle east continent. european-war-4.boards.net/post/29829
Before you can evolve to more stars you have to unlock laboratory in each continent starting from Africa. european-war-4.boards.net/post/30509
My advice based on my own experience is not to buy green chips with medals, since you can get enough by playing actively. Don’t evolve all your units but focus on your strongest. Take in account every time you can obtain new units which are better. Focus your PvP strategy to obtain more chips (more info later).
Core for creating shield for your units
Another way to increase the value of your units is by creating a strong shield, which can even have regeneration options. This is alien technique so it becomes available in Antartica. european-war-4.boards.net/post/37365/thread. You have to use core to create it. You can obtain core at the places where you normally obtain chips in earlier continents. So doing PvP, missions, and battles. Moreover, the market in Antartica has it on sale (50 core for 1000 medals or 120 core for 2000 medals). Since its very strong and helps me winning PvP against full real money guys I do spend medals on core! The core costs for shield and regeneration can be found here: european-war-4.boards.net/post/42426/thread
Generals
Generals do play a role. You can not buy them but have to unlock them after each continent. You do not need to get 3 star win on every battle to unlock them. There are 7 generals till now and can be upgraded using medals till level 10. All have special abilities. We do not have a perfect thread for generals. Most info can be found here: european-war-4.boards.net/post/25640/thread and european-war-4.boards.net/post/55501/thread.
My advice is to spend your medals from the start to upgrade generals till you get to Antartica and then start to buy also core at the market. My tactic is using always Angel (health general and 1st general.. so start upgrading her). At Asia you unlock Guardian, the defense general. This is my second general. The third is my tank general, Duke. Some will use Phoenix the artillery general, but I am not really happy with the artillery units. Since I was pioneering I decided to uprade all generals to level 5 and then focus on my main generals. I don’t know whether this is the best strategy. After some discussion the consensus is to level your important generals at least to level 7. I got Angel to level 10 (max on this point) and the other 2 at 8. This is enough for most stuff. After enough shield for most important units get some medal payed components
PvP
At two points you can play PvP (player vs player) every 12 hours. At the arena (every continent has an icon with two crossing swords) you play 4 matches (knock out system). This is a steady income for components, chips, gold and medals. Each continent arena shows the range of level your opponent will be chosen from. Since there are players who hacked the game and have full generals and units choosing continent within your own level will probably lead to loss. This is the link for an overview of the rewards each content will give you after winning the arena rounds: european-war-4.boards.net/post/42427/thread
You do not play yourself. The AI will play for you and your opponent. Every time a random selection of units and 3 generals can be included. So its important to upgrade these for a win. Since an amount of wins in arena will lead to significant amounts of green chips I will focus on winning as much as possible and stay long in European arena. More info and discussion can be found here: european-war-4.boards.net/post/29777/thread
Another PvP point is unlocked every 12hours in each continent. At the spot where the final battle is and where you can unlock your general is normally a grey fort. Every 12 hours it will be replaced by a flag representing a random opponent in the same level range the arenas are devided. The rewards are great and find in same thread european-war-4.boards.net/post/29777/thread. Another advantage is that you can replay the match when loosing and since AI is really bad player sometimes this will lead to a win.. european-war-4.boards.net/post/41460. Somethimes the selection gives also air units.. this is great since your opponent does not have these units
Farming
When finishing a continent you unlock a bank which will give you every 8 hours rewards. For an overview for each bank: european-war-4.boards.net/post/37365/thread.
Gold farming by doing battles again can be easily done as explained by Zaxer Unixan :
- Africa battle 1: 2400 Gold, can be finished under 2-3 turns unless Mobility Card can make it go down to 1 turn.
- South America battle 3 - 4800 Gold, can be finished under 4-5 turns with air support.
- Central Asia battle 3 - 7200 Gold, can be finished under 3-4 turns with air support.
Tech center
At the tech center you can upgrade your ingame newly build units and buildings. The advantage can be discussed and atm there is no consensus. My advice is to upgrade them slowly at the beginning using gold. Air defence and fort seems at the start useless but some buildings are strong and by increasing level of fort your radar overview will also increase which can be handy using your airforce.

Medal spending
Since the game is still in development there is no real final strategy. My advice is spending the medals in early game only on general upgrade till you are in Antartica where core for shield can be obtained.. depending on your strategy and development then the option can be to spend some medals on core for strength during PvP. Don’t spend them on cards or green chips in the beginning and middle game. Buying important components can be started when shields are strong enough. Maybe you want to spend medals on some cards to finish the last mission in epsilon.
Save game and GoG2 player name
Finally don’t forget to save your game every 24hr for 5 medals or at least to get your process saved. Since there is a possibility we battles each other during PvP its fun to post your in game name here: european-war-4.boards.net/post/39514/thread
Planets Alpha and Epsilon and how to fight the Aliens
Starting from Antartica we wll fight aliens. On Antartica it is still easy but fighting in outer space is not that easy and needs lots of upgrades of components and shield (european-war-4.boards.net/post/47809/thread).
After discussions between some experienced players like Zaxer Unixan , @gorby , senjoe , Singlemalt this is our advice summarized: (more reading: european-war-4.boards.net/post/48377/thread)
1# - Remember that some alien units have anti-aircraft weapons, so only use your bombers to units without anti-aircraft weapons. Alien bases don’t have anti-aircraft weapons and are target number 1! If your target is an objective or an alien unit blocking your way, use your aircrafts even if they have anti-aircraft for the sake of achieving critical objectives
2# - Radars and Satellite Cards can offer outstanding vision and can help you navigate and avoid swarming of aliens around your units
3# - Strong units such as Blue Dragons, Red Dragons, Mammoths, or Unicorns can survive long enough to move and destroy or capture objectives alone
4# - Some alien units can move very quickly, so move your units to prevent them from encircling your units and protect the captured objectives as the aliens will try to swarm them and recapture
5# - Use your cards effeciently to maximize their utility in supporting your army, use cards with least turn cooldown
6# - Shields are the best defense to nullify most of te damage, but cannot regenerate anymore shields once they are "pop". So keep shielded units from being damage too much to somehow maintain their shields and regenerate those lost to damage taken
7# - Ion Cannons and Nuclear Bombs can be used to destroy objectives that are too far to get to due to oil limits, unless you stationed your units on an oil derrick halfway
8# - The Aliens will try to destroy your artilleries in one clean swoop, so protect or prevent them from being swarmed by aliens
9# - Paradrop Cards can be a huge help in capturing distant Alien Teleporter Bases
10# - Before making a move, figure out where to send troops in a direction according to distance of objectives and alien units
11# - Do not send low-health units alone, they can only be useful for either defending or supporting high-health yet high-damaging units
12# - Try to block alien units from reaching objectives or certain bases using infantry or cheap tanks. Use EMP Cards to potentially stop their advance
13# - Generals like Angel, Guardian and Duke are great combinations as they provide Health, Armor and Damage
14# - Aircrafts and Bombers are ideal for finishing off bits of shield left from alien units, using high-damaging units to eliminate them
Hope this helps! Enjoy the game!
