How does the general system work in WC3? Like how do we increase rank, stars, or skills?
Is it related to Missions? Thanks.

You can increase infantry skill etc. in academies across the world with medals. Some skill trainers you have to unlock by playing missions. You can also promote them in rank ( more health i think) in the academies as well.

Basically on the tutorial tab, any one called panzer skill or infantry skill etc is upgrading ur generals skills in the paticular area. The other ones give u a bonus, but u have only 5 slots for bonuses so u can't get them all on 1 general

Thank you. So basically, all generals are the same and I can train any general to my preference, am i correct? And is it a good idea to start with general with few skills so that I can choose the skills by myself?

No, you can increase rank of all generals but can only add and train skills for the generals that you get for free at the start and at hq levels 6 and 12. The generals you buy at academics can't be trained only increase their rank |

I just saw, that one of my generals can be "dismissed"?! Does anybody knows, what happens, when you dismiss one? Do you get your medals back, which you paid for him?!

When you press dismiss you get a pop up that tells you how many medals you get if you dismiss that general You then select yes or no. You can not dismiss a general if they are on a mission.

 I am wondering what the cost is to build a perfect general (like the one above posted originally by satan),that is to say 5 skills at all at a good level + decent general rank. Also how such a general would compare to the top "pre-built" ones. I cant wait to try all of these eventually but I cant upgrade anything right now, medals are much harder to win than in European war 4 or Glory of Generals,plus I am playing the chinese version and cant even read what skill does what,ah! |

From HQ screen,this button:  And the second screen showing me the refund for that particular general:  That general cost me 300 medals to buy and the refund is 240 if i want to get rid of him. I really like this feature in world conqueror 3, upgrading doesnt force you to loose all of your original investment only 20% of it. Not bad! |

The rank upgrade is with ease at first but then quickly empty your pockets of all medals.
From the simple soldier to the rank of Marshall you have to travel with a total cost of 3370 medals, that is a heavy bag.
It is following this path (more or less),the ranks names may need a revision but the cost may stay true:
NCO 30
Ensign 60
Lieutenant 90
Captain 120
Major 180
L.Colonel 240
Colonel 300
Major general 400
Lt general 500
Admiral 650
Marshal 800
