Why early? I had already stuck with missions. Mannerheim let me clear some five more and now I have one mission, which my genarals make 27%, so they will make it soon or late. And in challenges he is very usefull. I have cleared the last 5th challenge - accumulate supplies, which was impossible without him. Sure, I could build oil wonder to do that, but anyway first 6th challenge I have tried now seems clearable, and before there were no chance to win. Not sure about campaign, there will likely any tank or artillery general would be much better, but anyway campaign was ok even without him (till aliens), so infantry will be ok. In conquest game... don't know, in 39 I have got 150 medals and all 4 wonders, 43 haven't tried, but I think I will not regret my choice. If you need infantry in some challenges or missions while others unavailable, you better have Guderian, Crerar or Konev that could do infantry, which can also be use on other types of unit. For me I see no point having an infantry-only general on any stage. When noticed you haven't try 1943 I think the missions I am reaching is much far and harder compared to yours, while I don't even need a pure infantry general. 0.0 Hmm... As I remember, I haven't write, which missions I can clear an which I can't. Also, as I figured out, if you have 20 or less percents, you can't clear it. If you have 21 or more, than you can, only depends the chance of success. And the only criteria there is appropriate skills.

Possibly, if I had better other guys, it could be worth to sacrifice a bit infantry in order to get better tank or artillery, but as my composite budget for all generals for now is not worth even Guderian and Konev, I have to make such pervertions.

Plain fighters are the best fighter. But Mannerheim, when used wisely is better than Vasilevsky. Supply lv 2 makes him recyclable. Raider makes him really tough. However, Vasilevsky could double as arty gen.

I prefer yamashita, why?
His firepower is good enough, not epic. But good enough. I rarely use inf for attacking purpose. since inf is weak. Even valivesky cant stand a tank general. I use inf for speeding things up. I want my inf to be there every single time, i want my inf to be quick.
And guess what? Yamashita has 5* movement

Me too. But this problem persists from the very, very begining, and seems like globally it is impossible to solve it .

Proceeding with missions just let me get terracota army . So it was really worth. The only problem, I just colleted 140 000 industry for City of Cuzco and Angkor Wat and thought that at last I will be able to upgrade something... The only good thing, that I will collect some tech during that time and will not have to choose to upgrade aircraft or tanks.

I suppose pairing him with someone like Guderian with latter just clearing every city and Yamashita taking it could be a good tactic but well...nukes
