I thought to play a no princess game in ew4, just for fun So these are the generals I'll need (recommendation needed) as substitutes
1) Döbeln 2) Scharnhorst 3) Sidney 4) Golytsin
Any advice would be appreciated as I haven't started the game yet.

Sophia doesn't have a good sub.
The others can be replaced if you wish, but why?

I'm guessing you're medal only no emblems. 1) Oudinot 2) Scharnhorst 3) Sidney 4) Berthier I would replace Oudinot with Sulkowski though as a cavalry leader is far more important than an infantry leader.

First: Let's make it clear, that we'll need 1 navy potential, 2 artillery, at least 1 cavalry, 1 fort smasher potential. Note: *for unit potential(add 1* if this is his main thing), ^for fort smasher potential, `for no against human skill(other than navy). Artillery choices: Scharnhorst, Yermolov**, Ushakov**, Collingwood*`, Drummond^`, Ney*^, Berthier*`. Cavalry choices: Golityn, Berthier**, Sulkowski^, Savary**^, Ney*^. Infantry choices: Oudinot, Dobeln, Yermolov*, Ney*^. Navy choices: Collingwood**, Savary*^, Ney*^, Ushakov*.
If you need other last slot fillers, Grouchy and Wittgenstein can be two choices, but they don't have output skill.

Well I kind of have an "historian grudge" against the princesses, so I try not to use them.

Well I kind of have an "historian grudge" against the princesses, so I try not to use them. Well, Sophie is apparently the birth name of Catherine the Great, so that's Sophia Maria is most likely Marie-Louise, Daughter of Francis II and 2nd wife of Napoleon Victoria is Queen Victoria (duh) Granted, Victoria was born after Waterloo, and Marie-Louise never commanded troops I doubt Catherine did either

Golytsin Döbeln Ouidnot Sidney Scharnhorst I tend to go for Scharnhorst, Döbeln and Golytsin. But I want opinion as well.

Personally, i never use princesses, instead i use Mr. Bonaparte and Sulkowski. Who needs Imperialists when you can have military men?

With him either do a 1775/1812 (both work fine) conquest to get Kate and then use the two to get Sophia and maybe even Isabela with HRE 1798 or use Jean-Luc Picard guide on France 1798

I sometimes like to use historic related generals too of course. I stay away from buying anybody whos name starts with B (besides of Berthier) because Lannes liked to destroy people whos names started with B.
