What is the best way in European war 4, should I be trying to buy more generals or spend medals on items instead? I have Kate princess now.

Generals until you have at least Dobeln Grouchy and Golitsyn - rest is up to you However keep in mind that you cant equip fergusson rifle if you dont have general

Should be able to do both at the same time, there is a great guide on "grinding" or farming for medals the easier way in the guide section. It's a little boring but it works.

OP only has 1 general now so would need to get a couple more to really take advantage of that method. It can be done with just one,it's just that it is so much more efficient with a few generals at once
And kanue that farm pic you posted in that guide is just plain sick,1/2 a dozen generals stomping the land for free medals and rank and nobility!

When I found Dobeln in the tier 2 area he costed medals and emblems. So have every other tier 2 general I saw, contrary to what people have been saying. About tier 2 generals costing only medals. Do you have to have the game on a certain device for them to not cost emblems?

Tier 2 is either medals or emblems. You are free to choose what to spend.

Yes, it shows both medals and emblems options but you only need to pay with either one of those by clicking the paying method you wish.

Hey all !
I have questions concerning items. For Sophia as an Artillery General, in your opinion, what is the most interesting item for movement between War Horse (Skill Geography) and Horse artillery (move +2) ? And on a more general ground, the defence items are they really worth ?

Generals in EW4 last for quite a while. I advise just getting movement and attack items.

And on a more general ground, the defence items are they really worth ? Hi. Regarding Sophia, it depends on what unit she is commanding. If she is commanding light artillery or rocket artillery, then Warhorse is better since Horse artillery won't make her move any faster. But in case she is commanding heavy artillery or siege artillery, Horse artillery makes her move faster (2 hex -> 3 hex) on plain so it entirely up to you (+1 hex or Geography skill). Note that, the cheaper +1 movement item also works as good for Sophia. If you want to make Sophia one of your end game generals, then you can buy her a Warhorse and regroup one move trainer to her. This will make her move as fast as Isabela. My Sophia move that fast. To have a better understanding about movement, you might want to see this... european-war-4.boards.net/thread/408/movement-costs

Hey all ! And on a more general ground, the defence items are they really worth ? Normally, I regard +defense items as secondary choices and prefer +attack or movement items. Anyway, +defense items can be useful for cavalry generals since they are likely to interact with enemies often while the item is not really necessary for artillery generals if you manage to avoid damage well.

Thanks a lot guys. Yes I intend to keep Sophia as final artillery general. The skill "spy" is really useful. One more question.once a general has two items, is it possible to remove one of them to use another one ? I suppose in that case the removed item would be lost wouldn't it ?

Items can be given(taken) to(from) your general anytime. If the item is taken from a general, it will be in your inventory. So, basically, This is what you can do in one turn... -give warhorse and quality saddle to a cavalry general so he can move fast, -then switch them out and then give a cavalry pistol and snare drum to him before he makes his attack, -after finish all of his actions, switch pistol and drum out then give him 2 military tents for regen.
I, myself, am too lazy to do this. Just want to point out a possibility to play around with items.
