That's true Singlemalt a lot of it depends on posters knowing how the feature works and using it and that's a lot to ask for the newer members who might just want a quick answer and return back to gaming. Philip II of Macedon For some odd reasons I could not get the gfx to display correctly with a blank space but I tweeked the looks with a seperator, hopefully it's easier to read now. Below is the new look (example Singlemalt):
And actually I just realised this thing went live in all gaming boards not just the ACE board for some time now without me knowing it.A few weeks ago I fiddled with the settings and inadvertently enabled everywhere before finishing the testing. So all "likes" in all gaming boards (but not the social boards) were counted as upvotes. ----> bad admin So this means the guru upvoting system now works for all games. Right now: A) [likes] count as 1 upvote or 1 point. B) [Accepted answer] count as 2 upvote or 2 points. Only "like" in gaming boards count as upvotes,"likes" in social boards such as [the Officers' lounge] do not count towards your guru rank. What do you guys think? Should we keep that proportion or should we make the [accepted answer] worth much more than the [likes] Guru mod enabled in all gaming boards:

I was playing a bit with it by accepting post fro anotherplayer.. Since then the accepted status went to 0 for me a star went down and the avater of that player is in the guru system now my avater too... I think this is a bug in teh system?

Do you remember what thread it was that you had an accepted (best) answer? I am thinking the only way your situation could happen is if that person that accepted your answer has decide someone else answer was better and just picked it instead. In that case you loose the [Accepted] and a few points. If you were barely making 4 stars the few points loss could have been enough to make you loose a star as well.
The system is designed to show the best answer right now,but if someone else post a better answer in the future the old "best" answer gets eliminated and the points and stars automatically adjusted.

I see. That sounds Logical to me. I am just playing around and see how it works.. Thing is this happened when I gave a way an solution on a topic i created which had nog yet an acception. Moreover, this member had no acceptions yet also not given away..
So by accepting a question (new), i got his aviater, lost a star and acception.. Dont mind about the guru status of myself.. The thing is I try to figure out how this can happen.
Still I think its a nice extra tool for the forum.

I think you are right Singlemalt the problem is with the tracking and recording. The regular "likes" [upvoted] is working and counted correctly but the [Accepted] best answer recording is glitched. It isnt always recording and reporting correctly how many [best answers] were made.I dont know how soon this can be fixed,I will test more and see.

I tried to reject my own post, twice. And now I only have 6 stars. Same thing happened to singlemalt.Unfortunately the guru plugin does not allow me to tweek the original settings or restore stars or influence the ratings. I will try to contact the developer and notify him of the bug.

I have gotten in touch with the developer of the guru mod add on,unfortunatly as you can see from my chat he has been inactive and not coding for a while but he intends on getting back into coding on the next version of proboard (version 6) and redoing it all together. So for now if we want to keep the Guru ranking mod it would have to be as is which seems to work more or less ok unless experimented on.

Hi saltin, sorry, I’m new in the forum and don’t fully understand this guru system: Where’s the accept button? I can’t see any at posts. Do i only see it in my own threads or in other‘s, too? I’ve liked posts in my threads but the poster didn’t get a guru rating. Does it need to be more than one like? I’ve rarely noticed the [solved] at thread titles. Now I can’t find any. I’m using the Firefox iOS browser on iPad.

Hi Marshal Forwards , the guru system is enabled for the game boards only, not the social boards. The way it works is it award you 1 point for each "likes" you earn while posting in a game board and awards you 2 points for each chosen accepted answer. Only an OP (a creator of a thread) can select an accepted answer. This is not my code (I am not a programmer) and unfortunately this feature is buggy, it does not show up properly for all users and your rating can randomly gets reset. Several members have had thrir rating reset (including myself) at one point or another.

But the accepted answer thing and the resulting [solved] in thread titels looks handy, so I’d like to use it. I simply can’t see a button to accept an answer in my posts. (in head quarter, training camp or campaign trail, that’s clear) i guess it should be part of an answers post option bar, but I don’t see it there. Here’s an example of a thread I made in the EW4 headquarter: where do I accept this answer?
