General William T. Sherman and cannibalgg like this
Post by Jean-Luc Picard on Jun 21, 2016 18:46:46 GMT
Every week, I will post another one of these. In these, I will talk about what I've done in the past week, and some goals for the next.
The day before every moderator Release, I will post a survey rating my performance that Week
Moderator Release #1: June 21, 2016:
Wow, my career has been off to a rocky start. I wake up to a board on lockdown and find out all the cool mods may be trojans. When I make the announcement to you, I get all the frustration vented at me. While it is frustrating, it is not my fault, or Saltin's. And remember that it was all done for your protection.
On a lighter note, I did some housecleaning. I removed the [mod] tags, moved some spam, and handled some other stuff. I also worked with saltin and General William T. Sherman to move some other mod threads back. I also created a Parking Star thread, out of some derailed posts.
Additionally, I'm expermineting with different approaches to moderating. i've tried moving out off-topic posts, but that approach seems a bit invasive. I'm going to try more limited oversight in the future.
On a morw personal note, I've had to curtail my guidemaking in EW4, but I've still been working hard to answer questions.
Also, it was great to find out that Philip II of Macedon is, like me, a Jew
Thanks for reading,

Please fill this in honestly. I want to get feedback so I can improve and adapt my style

Moderator Release #2: June 28, 2016
This is the work of a man being thrust through the air in a pressurized metal tube. Treat it as such
Whew! It's been quite a week. Mod board has settled into a routine, but other things are changing. To begin, I've gotten back to writing guides for EW4, with a beginner guide to Turkey 1806 (Check it out!). EW4 WWI mod is also gradually firing up. On top of that, I've gotten to spend some time with new members, like Paradoxstrategy and lansalle. In the modcave, we've also had some secret goings-on, conspiracy theories, and other zany mod stuff.
I've also been working, recently, to try to find the right level of vigor and zeal to put into my moderation. Having started out with an approach of complete sanitization of threads and dumping posts in the Random Area, I gave that up. I still do it to blatant spam, like Parking Stars posts (See the Parking Stars Thread), but I've loosened up. And for those wondering about removed mods, they're dead and they're never coming back (unless we deem them safe, or are provided proper evidence that they are safe).
Well, I'm off to my next flight! Don't give saltin and @communist too many migraines!
Moderator Release #3: July 7, 2016
This has been a very eventful week plus IRL, so it was nice to have some calm out here. Firstly, I had a national Econ competition. The flights were bad. Flight there was SFO to Alanta with connection in Houston. 1st flight (SFO-IAH) was 30 minutes late. 2nd flight (IAH-ATL) was in an old plane, with white powder (looked like crack) in the luggage bin, and it was 2 hours late. Also, my knees didn't fit behind the chair, being 6 foor 6. We missed the last subway, so had to get a shuttle (cost 4 times as much). Atlanta, mind you, is not a pleasant place. Hot and humid, and such a bad problem with panhandlers that they have bridges between downtown buildings. And the restaurants weren't ready for being swamped by the 12,000 kids that were there (there are over 40 different competitions within this organization, mind you). But I placed 6, so it was good.
Then, flight back. Flight back was a nightmare. First, the TSA scanner didn't like my plaque, so the officer had to open up my bag. Lucky he didn't scratch it. Then, the airline overbooked and tried to get our chaperone off. After much yelling, it was resolved, with me, the one guy that can't fit in economy properly, being the one guy that didn't get upgraded to 1st class.
Once home, I had drivers' Ed to do. Finished that yesterday. I'm going to drive soon!
Here, we've had good calm in Mod board. Could use some more material to scan.
Moderator Release #3.5: July 8, 2016
I thought we had settled down in mod board, when another controversy struck. Several members wanted to publish EW3 mods and were rather displeased when I told them that they may not do so since EW3 is not free. Guys, respect the rules
On a brighter note, I restored some content to mod board, and made a Facebook under the name "Louis-Nicolas d'Avout"
Cheers!
Moderator Release #4: July 14, 2016
Whew! What a week!
This week started with a massive fiasco, the WC3 forum.
Some members thought it was a good idea to have a rival forum, most of the mod team didn't. Some sad things happened, and the new place is not in good shape, but that's winding down.
Due to recent circumstances, I am also now moderating pres and polls. I'm still getting used to that glove, but it fits rather well. Pres and Polls is usually a calmer board.
Speaking of Polls and Pres, I went down and scrubbed much of the old salt, such as the politician threads. Nice, clean board for all of our beautiful presentations and polls.
In my personal life, I can legally drive now!
Other note: tomorrow I'm going on 3-day vacation, so expect slightly less of me around
