I don't know about you all but I only take members of this forum seriously after they achieve Captain rank because there are a huge number of members who've never posted or have done minimal stuff and so when do you class a member as a contributor

Doesn't matter if they have 1 post or 2000, whether they contribute is determined by what they post, not how many.

Some, like Laurent de Gouvion, showed greatness from day one. You have to do a case by case thing IMO

Most excellent question! There is no universal answer to this as each one of us may have a slightly different standard but I will take a stab at answering this.
To me there are many different kind of contributors and all of them are just as valuable. To me a member can achieve excellence by doing what he enjoys the most and taking it a step further than he (or she) thought he could.
-So some members have excellent aptitude at making clear and concise gaming guides -Others may enjoy contributing by making youtube videos -Some just love to help "newbies" and help walk them through some of the confusing parts of the games. -A few members may display aptitude at graphics and gfx and contribute with their artistic talents -Some members manage to make excellent informative historical presentations and lectures -Some members have a zen like ability and patience to gather huge amount of raw game data. -That data sometimes go to some math and statistics wizards of our community that will break down that knowlege into formula. -yet again some members constantly entertain the rest of us with witty remarks and anectodes -Some members have helped bridge the communities gap between foreign langage sites and helped trully make our forum an international community with roots from across the globe. -Many members are just plain pleasant and bring joy to others with just normal interactions. -Many members automatically become contributors based on the fact they have been around for so long as they are now "part of the furniture". A strong compliment as long time members bring a certain familiarity and joy to the rest of us. -Countless of other examples.
Point being is a contributor isn't just about post count it is more about finding what you are good at and helping in your own way to have a positive impact on the community that is very willing to accept you for who you are as a gamer.

Simple enough for me to maintain consistently that approach, that's when I take him seriously.

And some are like me, makes whole alot of information in all ways, then throws hell a lot of game file data in forum and then starts a huge wave of something that made us to make some changes around here

Whenever someone truly respects their peers by making it feel like a positive environment, that's when I respect someone.

Whenever someone truly respects their peers by making it feel like a positive environment, that's when I respect someone. That's a huge part of it, but content is truly valuable as well. The best is a mix of courtesy and insight
