Well, about the maximum 5 star rank thing, saltin is right because I think there has been no other official ranks above 5 stars in the world. Sure you can say about the General of the Armies held by G. Washington and someone else(I forgot), but no clear and official rank emblem has been made by the US for the General of the Armies position. The French also has the Amiral de la Flotte held by Darlan, but again, it's probably an exception that was caused by this and that and etc. And the renaming of some ranks below Darth Vader could actually work since different militaries have different names for arguably same ranks so we probably have to stick to a country's military names or easytech's military names or Star Wars' names or not change anything. Oh but there has been a rank above 5 star General: GENERALISSIMO FRANCO!

Renaming existing ranks would probably not be a good idea as it is disruptive and potentially confusing to members who have already earned these ranks and might not understand (or like) why their rank suddenly changed. So unless there is a good and logical reason that can withstand scrutiny to change the name of a particular existing rank we wont go that route.
In general it's best to leave alone what members have already earned and only change or add future options. So changes if any would mainly concern above the rank of Vader.

So like Supersayian Vegeta or if continuing the Star Wars - Emperor Palpaltine? If we had used noblity titles - baron etc, it wouldn't make sense to have Darth Vader between the military ranks and noblity ranks. If we use a second system of ranking then we need to change Vader. If not, then we need to use villains' names or other famous characters.

This is the place where power user discussion leads.

And changing the color of a rank (changing general to the color of Marshal) with the agreement of all active, showing holders of the rank ( TK421 and Frederick the Great, in my example) is OK or not? Doing so would free up a color

Colors of the stars could be tweeked that shouldn't be an issue .Vader star color being an exception though as that one was custom picked prize by the 1st member to achieve it (Mountbatten). Color of the rank itself cannot be changed those are tied to grouping.
