Nobody beats Erich von Manstein mate. I learn from him and some other EW4 contributors, and I rate myself as a second-rate contributor. Also, Refresh farming: what you did Medal farming: Battle of Trafalgar, saltin 's guide. Dumouriez is tier-1. I would rate myself as a second-rate contributor to WC3 as well. I like your spirit and honesty. Anyway, back to EW4, can anyone point out the best starting general, exactly which one? I seem to hear two different choices. I am now starting EW4 for the 2nd time, trying to get used to it, if anyone can give a link to a good thread that outlines the best way to get started in EW4 like the one we have in the WC3 boards for picking Badoglio to start with, then proceed to Guderian, and so forth, an official guide thread? No actually, regroup system in EW4 provides lots of paths.

I Think the better way to grind is Imperial Eagle 1. If you have any generals use them on coastal fort west of Paris(near Treville) and move Treville north. Next turn hit the small ship which comes to conquer your harbour and move the infantry general in OParis near coastal artillery by crossing the river. Next turn the ship general will attack the infantry general now you can use TREVILLE to flank and defeat him. I used this method to improve golytsyn from 36 rank to 64 rank. This also works with sophia You will get atleast 2 to 3 medals per refresh.

Yeah I am sorry for wrong tagging. And By better I mean that costal fort does a lot of damage to ships and thus you can also improve your generals as well as get a refresh

Thats the beauty of EW4, the reason there is a specific path in WC3 is because you get a finite # of medals, in EW4 you can always grind more out and do what you like, so the game is not as harsh on medal waste as WC3 is

The generals also offer far more diversity

But it's kinda pointless to grind when your slots are full and you have the best generals. It would be nice to bench a general and switch another into your team.
