Fun Fact: Much of what Americans consider to be Western films or stories (Such as gunfights, cowboys, outlaws, etc. etc.), come from European stories and such, specifically German and Italian stories. Starting in the late 1800's, German stories were written about the American West, depicting epic tales of gunfights and outlaws and chases. When the moving picture came about in the early 1900's, Italian directors began filming their own Westerns of their own, the most famous of which was Sergio Leone. While most of these 'Spaghetti Westerns', as they were called, never came to Americans movie theatres, most of Leone's films were brought to American cinema, two of them being For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Leone's films helped to really popularize the Western genre in America, and its ironic that Italian Westerns came to become the originals while American Westerns usually came to copy many aspects of these films.
