Instead of more chaos, let's organize the picking of the names, TW-style
Let's have sign-ups for the next 4 random areas, and as one is taken, the next is opened. This way people who were asleep get a chance. Sounds good?
Example: 5. Random Area 5: The Journey -by Member X 6. Random Area 6: The Return - by Member Y 7. Random Area 7: The Original name -by Member Q 8. Random Area 8: The Throwback -by member Z
When 5 gets used, sign-ups for 9 will open, and when 6 is used, sign ups will open for 10

What if a bunch of people sign up for the same one?

What if a bunch of people sign up for the same one? First come, first served If you call #5, and I call #6, Washington cannot call either of those

First come, first served If you call #5, and I call #6, Washington cannot call either of those I dont agree with the system, I kind of like having the whole competition for the new Random Area. Plus, for the people who are currently asleep, they will have a chance once the active people who want to make it finish theirs. Or we could also circumvent this problem by purposely have a Random Area thread end when those people are online.

Under the new system (Batten's) the first thread made past 99 pages of the old one is it 2. There will always be someone offline

There will always be someone offline Well I really feel as if this sort of regimented, orderly way of dealing of things isn't really that good for dealing with issues on the Officers Lounge. For information on Ew4 or Wc3 or for who will go next for an RP, this would work perfectly, but I feel as if on this board, things should just go with the flow, if you will. I mean it is called the Random Area, correct? So lets make it so its random as to who gets to make the next Random Area.

It needs to be assimilated into the Borg Collective and rendered into perfect cubes

Dont fix what isn't broken, after all.

I agree with Sherman here, I'd rather keep the current system

And the correct saying is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" A. I agree with that, but making it all regimented and orderly is not the correct solution in my opinion. In my opinion, we could have a period of around 24 hours where people who want to make the new Random Area can make one. Then, Batten or Saltin can roll a die/dice to determine who it will be. This retains the randomness in who it will become and it doesn't became all regimented and orderly. B. I though there was something wrong with that, thank you for correcting me.

It wasnt all that regimented. There was a naming preference for the convenience of everyone and so that people random post in the correct [random ] thread instead of anywhere. The other requirement about which thread to keep was to avoid what we had before which was sorta like mini-fights with several members wanted to have their thread to be the one used so this was to prevent quiet a bit of fuss. Last one just tells people when they can open the new thread.it's not at 20 or 50 it's at 99. Basically these simple guidelines were just to avoid confusions and issues for both members and moderator in charge but if Mountbatten feels confident this is not a problem and that these issues can be dealt with easily then that's ok too,I dont mind either way.
