I've heard about a classic war movie for some many years but I never got around to watch it until about 3 months ago.
"Tora! Tora! Tora!" may seems to be unbelievable old and potentially boring, but while I watched it, I enjoyed it way more than I thought. It was actually very interesting in how they handle the internal squabbling on both sides in Japan and America as they both were watching each other for the first move.
At the end of the movie, when the credits came up, it turns out that the reason why the movie was so balanced instead of narrowly focusing on one viewpoint is that the movie has an American director plus... the Hollywood bosses of the studio had also hired a Japanese driector to handle the things on the other side of the war from their own perspective.
Not only that reason.... Very interesting to see what was said on the movie from people who had WW2 as a real living memory in their lives (the movie is really that old, believe me) instead of people today who heard about it but never had a memory of living through the war. Don't misunderstand me,the movie is old but it doesn't diminish the amazing quality of the performance and filming of the planes/ships/others etc...
It was a very well done movie.

There's this miniseries about a group of German friends during WWII. Two are brothers who went to fight on the Eastern Front, one's a nurse on the Eastern Front, one's a Jew who is trying to get to America to escape the Holocaust before he isn't able to escape, and another is an actress who is trying to help the Jew. I have it somewhere, ill tell you the name if you're interested. Its entirely in German and told entirely from the German perspective (But its not anti-Semitic or racist, dont worry. Inappropriate at times though)

Sounds very unusual, but I'm afraid I can't spare time to watch a movie/series at any particular time soon.
Too many things to do, like playing Judea in TW13, still got a Diplomacy game to prep, and finishing up the paperwork for class registration in college.

Even though I'm much younger than Torra! Torra! Torra! I like it. I also like Battle of Britain which is similar to Torra! Torra! Torra! in the way that it shows both sides. I like all the Sharpe movies/episodes and the Hornblower miniseries. Bridge of the River Kwai is pretty good too.

Guys how about red cliff? Not exactly what I'd call historical, but it's also great.
