I have fine stars, but most of my skills are for another kind of unit. Sounds an awful lot like Zhukov. Can you give a hint on what kind of a general he is? He has very, very little stars combined with most of his skills. |

Erich von Manstein , the most expensive gen, which has no skills for his speciality is Mountbatten: navy gen with industrial expert, sailor and jungle fighting. If we talk about gen, which has most totally unused skills, if can be Xu.S.Y.: 4 art stars with guerilla, raider and barrage. In case we talk about totally unused skills. For example, for air gen any land unit skill can be useful, as he have to be in any unit. Also if we talk about his main speciality, not one of best two (for example, if gen has 4 art and 4 tank and has tank but no art skills).

Ok, than which is the cheapest gen we can get combining abilities of 3 IAPs and 3 best academy gens: Manstein, Zhukov, Eisenhower, Guderian, Patton and Govorov (1 ability from each gen)?
Only abilities, no skills. For example, combining infantry of Manstein, artillery of Zhukov, marching of Eisenhower, navy of Guderian, air of Vatutin and panzer of Govorov we get Konev. Konev has 4 infantry - the same as Manstein, 5 artilery - the same as Zhukov, 3 marching - the same as Eisenhower, 0 navy - the same as Guderian, 0 air - the same as Vatulin and 1 panzer - the same as Govorov.

Marching will be 1,3,4,or 5
Tank will be 1, 4, or 5
Infantry will be 1,3,4 or 5
Artillery will be 1,2,3,4 or 5
Air will be 1,2,3 or 5
Navy will be 0,1,2, or 5
Minimum is:
1 Inf
1 Tank
1 Art
0 Navy
1 Air
1 Marching
Kuchler, at 860, looks promising at first.
Novikov, at 520, seems even better
Eye-cover, at 0, fails because all these have at least one marching.

No, all IAPs have at least 3 stars in every skill instead of air and navy and 1-2 navy/air stars. So if you take 4 infantry from Eisenhower, 1 navy from Manstein, from Zhukov you can take 1 air, 5 art, 4 tank or 3 marching and Schorner has 0 air.

One more hint: Eisenhower in every skill has 3 stars or more. So that gen must have 3 or more stars at least in one of his abilities. Also from Eisenhower you have to choose at least 3 stars, from Zhukov and Manstein by 1, from Govorov and Guderian 0 and from Patton 2. So in total gen must have at least 7 stars.

Keeping in mind, that minimal abilities are Infantry: 1, Artillery: 1, Tank: 1, Navy: 0, Air: 1, March: 1, only 11 gens fit. And assuming that Schorner doesn't fit (as mentioned above), we have just 10 left.
