Final Battle

Cleared this with 5 stars with 15 turns. You need to clear this in 16 rounds for a great victory. Got 1 emblem & 1 academy refresh for completing this scenario. Used 3 big medi kits though. This was a tough mission.

1) Put generals on all units of the northern battlegroup. Position all the units on the coast to make landfall by turn 2. Put Kate on the battleship, together with the frigate, these 2 ships will take Breme port then upgrade the port to III before proceeding down to bombard Bordeaux.

2) Northern battlegroup will head towards Nantes quickly, ignoring all other units and fortifications. You need to put a fast and strong cav general on the guards cavalry unit. I myself was engaged by heavy fighting between Nantes and Clermont. I had to use the fast cavalry general with horse and saddle to rush into Bordeaux after it was heavily injured by the battleship and frigate shelling. If your cavalry general cannot make it into Bordeaux due to the river, don't kill the unit yet. Otherwise, during the AI turn, it will buy a fresh unit to occupy it. Bombard the injured unit, kill it, then use the cavalry general to occupy it, all within the same turn. After occupying it, the cavalry general can proceed to help out at Paris. Clermont should be undefended and you can snipe it easily with the cavalry general.

3) The heavy arty unit with the northern battlegroup should be bogged down by heavy fighting at Nantes to Paris. You can leave the cities and industry empty if there are no threats. But if you see someone trying to sneak close, buy a cheap unit to occupy it. In the midst of my fighting, I was constantly harassed by Soult with the machinegun at Nantes. Soult will charge at Wellesley with the machine gun. Once you killed him, move all units to Paris, especially the heavy arty unit with a general on it.


4) Put generals on all the southern battle group units. I killed the privateer at Toulon, then position all to land by turn two, except for the rocket arty, which will bombard Marseille, then land by turn 3. For me, I chose to land the heavy arty between Marseille and the industry so that it can return fire on the grenadier and light arty if they chose to attack my heavy arty. I used the armoured car to occupy the port as it has higher mobility and can catch up with the rest by a few turns.

5) After taking Marseille, move towards Lyon, ignore all forts, units. Take the stable there too. Buy a cheap unit to take the level 1 city at the right of the map to prevent the French from attacking you from the rear.

6) The main group should proceed to Lyon then Dijon then Nancy. Heavy fighting will occur around Nancy to Paris. Metz should be unguarded and you can use a fast cavalry to sneak in to occupy it.

7) I took the industry next to Paris first. Then I started cranking out heavy arty to take the V city SW of Paris. By now, you should have surrounded Paris and bombarding it from far. I also took the industry and city north of Paris to crank out additional units.

8) I killed Napoleon at Paris then killed Davout.

9) Pay special attention to your food. At the start of every round, if the green arrow for food is less than the red arrow for food, that means you have a shortfall of food supplies. Hence your food will continue to decrease. Save constantly at regular intervals. Do note however, if you used a medi kit then reload an earlier saved game, you would have wasted a medi kit. Make use of the trading cities at Nantes and Lyon to trade excess metals for food by mid game. Calculate the food you need for around 18-20rounds. Just in case you bought new units, you wouldn't want to run outta food at the last few turns.

10) I used 3 big medi kits on my playthrough. One on Wellesley as it was constantly harassed by Soult. One on the heavy arty general. Both were at Nantes. Last medi kit was on my infantry general at Paris.
