MacArthur is an interesting general in that his skills are better used in special scenarios. For example: 1) A highly mobile tank general(if you are trying to outflank your enemy, or city stealing) 2) Paraspam general( if you are paraspamming on a conquest, and are having trouble holding a city, you can put him on due to his 4 stars, and fortification) 3) Bombardment(What I mean is that you can use him to support your invasion: attacking armor(which is already half the ground troops in the game) and fortification(which alone can hamper a inadequate invasion) 4)Coverage(MacArthur as at least two stars in every category.*)
While I am in no way recommending him, he still is a good general. Maybe in late to end game general if one doesn't want a eye covered arty general and finds his medal stockpile growing.
*While some general also have that capability, most do not, or only one star.

disagree, if you want to have a defensive general you can go for mannerheim. if you don't want to lose movement i recommend you the less known Xue.Y., his movement is the same as mcarthur. he also got street making his output in cities greatly higher than mcarthur.
the both of them also got raider and fortification. mannerheim gots supply and camoflague, xue.y. got street and defense

Not to mention that he still has two stars in air, so if your desperate for air support, and your air general is too far away, you can use him.

You know that it doesnt matter if you have 3 movement stars or 5. For air, göring, ozawa, yamamoto, greim. All better

Im using phone so don' t have account.
I am not claiming that macarthur should be your air general. However, what I am saying is that these small benefits make him a viable general(defense, high mobility, mobile tank gen, two air stars) for late.

He's probably going to be used solely for stuff like camapaigns and missions, and whilst not great, is a pretty decent all-rounder.

MacArthur is one of the most expensive generals in the game at about 3500 medals. I get he is a jack of all trades general but that also means he is a master at nothing and everything he can do another general can do better.

While that is true, MacArthur can be a investment if one does not wish to make a no eye artillery general, in late game.

Did you know the full quote is "Jack of all trades, master of none, but better than one"?
