Karl der Grosse? The Frankish empire got split into West Francia, Lotharingia and East Francia. They later became France, Italian states/Burgundy(Burgundy area in France and Benelux) and HRE respectively. Like Quintus Fabius said, he's pre-French. So it's like France is a Charlemagne-dom rather than the other way around. Modern Successor states of Carolus Magnus/Charlemagne/Karl der Grosse/Carlo Magno's Francia (Direct): West Francia: France, Andorra Middle Francia/Lotharingia: Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Bourgogne/Bourgogne-French-Comte East Francia: Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy It also had clay in nations like modern Spain, but we don't care about that.

To be honest, I had originally meant to type Constantine, but I accidentally typed Charlemagne.

To be honest, I had originally meant to type Constantine, but I accidentally typed Charlemagne. Constatine... it still applies. THe Western ROman EMpire was close to collapse, and Guderian, Manstein et co can blitz thru the various tribes and West Rome. THen, using resources and manpower from their newly-found " lebenstraum", they can easily defeat the Eastern Roman Empire, and perhaps even tackle the Sassanids!

You talk of blitzkrieg, things applies rather differently for calvary than tanks.... of course, with both sides having modern techs, Germany wins.
How about we flip this around? What if the third Reich's Wehrmacht got transported into the times of Charlemagne having nothing but their bodies (assuming they could get armor, horses, and spears etc...)?
I bet the hardened soldiers of Charlemagne would be in such bodily fitness unlike the modern troopers sitting in a tank or a trench. Plus the familiarity with blade weapons would give them an edge as well.

I think the intention is to have the Wehrmacht and SS having the equpment of Charlemagne Constatine's (which OP meant) time, but retaining the same training, vs the Roman Empire. However, all personnel (yes, even the NSDAP) are the same. No idea about the lands clashing in Gaul and Pannonia(Austria and Hungary) though; perhaps Rome retains Gaul but the Reich gets Pannonia?

Constantine owned both the East and West Roman Empires. It's not that he was the emperor of just the west, in fact he moved the capital to Constantinople (modern Istanbul). Constantine owned the Roman Empire at one of its highest points.
