Let me quote myself: This. It's a Multiplayer-only WW2-based hex TBS game, with 16 nations (factions), each with their own abilities and Special Units (e.g. Finnish Troops are better in Snow, Russians can build the Katyusha, Japanese Naval units are stronker). The game is free, but you only get 1 free faction (don't worry, you get to choose); then again, the IAP factions are cheap, and I'd suggest a balanced faction like Americans (cheap units), Germans (elite expensive units), Canadans (better attack/defence), USSR (mass spam and arty) or UK (defence) to start off because not all maps have the terrain your units work well in. Also, Arty is not avaliable for all nations. Summary of nations so you know what to pick: Australia: Desert/Jungle fighting nation. (Many small nations have ___ terrain bonus as only trait.) Brasil: Jungle Fighting with .... a bomber buff? Canadia: Balanced units, slightly better in atk and def. Beginner nation. China: Weak spammer. Germany: Best on land, strong but expensive panzers. Egypt: Desert Fighting. Finland: Snow/Forest Fighting. France: Arty, Cheap but weak in def stuff. UK: Defence tactic Lv. 4. Also cheap navy. Hungary: Mountain Fighting. India: Jungle Fighting. Italy: Cheap desert fighting and ... Air? Japan: Jungle fighting+navy. USSR: Cheap units + Katyusha. USA: Cheap units + Air. Also Beginner nation. Yugoslavia: Mountain Fighting. I'd suggest going for Canadia/USA, perhaps USSR or UK as challenge, and get other nations as IAP if you are interested. Historical scenarios can only be played when you have the nation that was in the war, but really only the guys that get everything play them. I got Australia, so my games are very situational, and always someone gets out USA and Sherman-spam/airspam me....

I played Wartime Cronies as China. Realised that you can't change factions and you have to wait for the other player. Could be lot better.

I'm not gonna pay juat to use another country.

Then again, even the Devs of Wesnoth are considering forming a company...

Actually they can have ads. There's this strategy game(s) (1941 Frozen Front, 1942 Pacific Front and 1944 Broken Bridges) that have ads and yet get 4* ratings. The ads for Wartime Cronies can be when waiting for other players. That way they get money so we don't need to pay for factions.

Do you mean you think the Frozen Front games are bad or you think that I think they are bad? Anyway, I like them they're addictive and no point paying anything.

I always feel as if Wartime Cronies is still not really complete and still updating. One thing that it did a good job though, is mutiplayer. Much better than the "PvP" in GoG2.

If Patunka and Easytech worked together...
