Since I have gone back to my roots over my name, I decided to write a bit about him. I am starting with this infamous story about a duel that hapened in 1791 when he first showcase his ability to take calculated risk.
When Brock entered the 49th Regiment in 1791, he had, being a gentleman, to defend the a honor of a lady that a infamous rake and known dualist had offended. The Rake, being the challenger left to Brock the choice of distance and weapon. Despite the recommendation of his second in command to chose a saber, since Brock was not the best pistol handler and that his large size gave him a disadvantage at distance (he was 6'2) because the opponent was an expert shooter. Brock declined the advice of his second and picked pistols as the weapon.
Fast forward to the day of the duel his opponent supposedly said “and sir how many paces would you like to take before you die?”. To which Brock answered by taking a handkerchief out of his uniform and insisted that the duel should not be done at the usual distance, instead he wanted, with the goal that the fight would be fair to both duelist, to do it at handkerchief distance, so really short distance. The opponent stepped down and left the regiment in dishonour.

Very interesting story, I must say. Brock life is short but interesting, I recommend reading on it. Also his agressivity and calculated will follow trough his career and bring him victories, especially when he took the Fort in Detroit.
