NetherFreek, Hockey is definitely the most popular in Canada, but it is by no means just a national sport. Again, Hockey in Canada is like Football in the U.S, definitely the most popular there. Fun Fact: In some states of Brazil, Basketball is actually incredibly popular, surpassing the popularity of soccer (Of course, soccer is nationally more popular than Basketball)

NetherFreek, There are many league for junior in Canada is called CHL. Its has 3 league Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League and Québec minor junior Hockey league. Europe there are lots of hockey league like in Denmark, Sweden , Finland , Russia and more countries. I seen some NHL players go back to Russia to play in the KHL which is popular in Russia.
