You can stop spamming with these tips! 1. Moderators are the only spam deleters. First step to conquering spam is to notify a moderator. As a general rule of thumb, you can tag Erich von Manstein, kanue, saltin, or Jean-Luc Picard. Also you can tag the local moderator, for Officer's Lounge: Mountbatten. (To tag someone, do @ username [without the space], saltin is probably the easiest to tag since his username is his display name). 2. Never Quote the Spam!!! By quoting the spam, you're replicating the spam post again. To avoid this, tag a moderator and use an arrow to point up. (e.g. ^ Jean-Luc Picard). 3. Never Reply to Spam! Replying to spam only encourages it. Avoid this, by again, tagging a moderator instead. 4. Report it! By clicking on the settings panel, you can report spam. Moderators apparently prefer that to tagging... 5. Try to Avoid Spam by Making Better Contributions! I'm sure nearly everyone of us has spammed at some point, some more than others. To destroy something negative, be something positive. Even if your spam is borderline, it is best to avoid it.

Also try report the post instead of tagging. It seems to help the mods better (and they did say so).

Also try report the post instead of tagging. It seems to help the mods better (and they did say so). It saves us about 3 clicks per post, which adds up to about 60 clicks on a day like this

Can the mods make it so only the game boards are guest friendly? This will limit the places for people to spam.

Your post is talking about moderators combatting spam, while mine is solely for users. Now now, it's related, so it's not far off topic. We can relax Besides... I think the mod team actually preferred to keep the general section open to guests for a particular reason I won't mention.

Yeap best way for members to contribute in keeping our forum free of spam is to report any post that doesnt look right. This helps a lot so go ahead and report!
The staff looks at all reports and take action if the case needs it or simply archive it for future reference if it doesnt. Spam is fairly normal for an open community with open access to guests. Some guests do not know (or wish to) be normal contributing posters so they spam then the mods delete/edit them. It's no big deal really, just a little annoyance that needs to be dealt with.It keeps the mods busy doing stuff and sharpening their mod skills 😆
