What I meant to ask was the General's mobility. The pair of legs at the bottom of his star chart, what does that do exactly? It is also called movement and it makes the general go faster(obviously). 1 movement star-general can move one more tile then normal units each turn. 2 movement stars- general can go 2 tiles more than normal units Etcetera etcetera

What is the cap on any particular skill? We usually call those stars and the things on the top right corner of the generals stats page are called skills.

From my experience, the mobility stars on the general increase his unit's movement by one, but it takes 3 movement to move one flat tile, more for rough terrain tiles. So, if you put a general with 3 movement stars on, say, light artillery, that the increases the movement of the unit to nine so you could move through three flat tiles instead of just two. The movement stars don't increase movement by one tile each. Btw movement stars don't seem to work on naval units. You need skills or items that boost naval movement, and in that case, the "+1" movement does increase unit speed by 1 tile.

Look for an escaped warship in the bottom right hand corner. Most of the sea is off the screen while you're fighting the land battle, and it can be easy to overlook. Send strong forces to deal with these; there's often an admiral or two sitting out there, who will need outflanking and heavy pounding. Unfortunately, given the move rate of naval units, this will likely take you quite a few turns.
