American Revolution
-Secured American independence
-First state to have Liberty and Democracy as founding principles
-Independence ideal spread throughout Western Hemisphere
French Revolution:
-Resulted in Napoleonic Wars
-Democracy spreads to Europe
-French Influence spreads across continent
-Bourbons (Temporarily) overthrown
Taiping Rebellion:
-Resulted in the deaths of up to 30 million people
-Christianity effectively defeated in China
-Further solidified China's rank as a weak power
-Resulted in Russia demanding Outer Manchuria and other powers begin encroaching on China
-Rebellions spring up elsewhere in the country
Mexican Revolution:
-Dictatorial government of Mexico overthrown
-Country effectively has a civil war
-U.S occupies many portions of the country, notably Veracruz and several border regions
-Many governments take power in Mexico City during the revolution, including one which was partly hostile towards the U.S
-Germans see government and Arthur Zimmerman sends telegram to Mexican President asking them to start war with the U.S to prevent them from entering World War One on the side of the Entente
-Zimmerman Telegraph intercepted by Brits and sent to Woodrow Wilson, President of U.S, who promptly asks Congress to declare war on Germany; Congress complies
October Revolution:
-Bolsheviks seize power in Petrograd, Moscow and other large cities in the Russian Empire
-Proclaim the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR)
-Romanovs permanently removed from power in Russia
-Russian Civil War begins as result
-Russia withdraws from World War One as a result
