90 different kind of units ~ EW5 by the way, 130 different kind of units ~ EW4 148 different kind of units ~ WC3 70 different kind of units ~ GoG2 29 different kind of units ~ 3kc I expect that every era has its own units. The amount of units i expect will be like the amount of units in wc3/ew4, but than per era. so 6 times the amount of troops as wc3/ew4. Please explain more on this. Where did you get the stats? Description from the game. But for ew4 it counts all levels, 1,2,3 (regroup by pressing twice or drice) and different unit systems. Like the french and the brittish as seperate. For wce it counts all looks, like the german ones and the americans look different. Plus it counts all upgrades, so tank lvl1 or tank lvl2 are different.

Maybe there is a time progression in the game? Days go buy and you forcefully have to adapt by upgrading and buying equipment for dominance. Like in Europa Universalis, Westernize your county. That would just punish some people who likes to farm at a set level of progression before moving on. I think it's more likely that specific levels will require buying/upgrading new equipment in order to achieve a win (kinda like WC3 and its techs, you need missle tech, air tech, arty tech real bad to win a later era conquest like 1960 or 1970). Maybe they can allow people to continue using the same troops no matter what era they are in, except it will be extremely difficult to battle opposing troop in which, they have better equipment. Look at the movie Zulu, you see a well organized unit with muskets against an extremely large army with spears and shields.

Then hence the need to drop old troops and purchase newer types of troops in order to win whatever level that was, because eventually there comes a point where it's necessary to upgrade or continue to fail to complete a level. Very likely to be implemented in EW5. Edit: Agreed, Basilikon Agemos btw.
