Maybe Attila for output chasers? As a guy who still doesn't have the game yet(I don't think my mom would like me spend $1 on games). I think he might be good. Suleiman is sort of meh, he and Alexander should exchange the unit they command. yeah when Attila's first ability is at max he is an output monster, but he has crap survivability. But I dont reccomend him as he feasts on medals to reach his full potential. Attila and Caesar are just like Berthier, while EW5 is much harder to get medals. |

On the topic of color of general background.
Besides the stat difference there also is skill difference
Grey generals only have 2 skills
Blue generals have 3 skills
Purple generals have 3 skills and one of them is a master skill
Gold generals have 3 skills and 2 of them are a master skill
Theres the difference in being a master and a expert in a skill. Master is better version of the expert skill.

I intend to replace Cleopatra with another artillery general.
When compared to Li shimin, Cleopatra is just not good.
My obvious choice is Li Shimin but there's no need at moment so I will wait to unlock discovery era to see if new artillery generals are any good.
I will particularly be on lookout for Bismarck who at 5 star will be on special unit.

Well, napoleon at 5 stars is on the same special unit,which is 100% no retailiation Washington at 5 stars is on special unit too, which deals additional 50%.dmg to both cav and inf However it is not confirmed, so I might be wrong. |

Its not well established which trial you should follow since we only know it up till empire modus.. If you are not planning to buy iap i think you should focus on getting the 4 "building/seduicing" generals (joan d'arc, barbarossa, saladin and lincon). Medals spending can be done on the gold generals. I dont think you really need ceasar since you have alexander/barbarossa and lateron lincon. Also suleiman is not necassary since you have saladin and hannibal (i mostly play with 1 cavalary general) The artillery general (li shimin) and maybe the archery general (nobunaga)are good (I got these). Dont waste medals on other generals is my opinion. When, where, and how do I get Nobunaga and Li Shimin? |

I believe it's medieval era for Li shimin and Nobunga is Empire era. Nobunga frikken melts cavs to start and gets a great ranged unit in the next era, being able to attack twice. I'd recommend Nobunga

My 4 generals set is Robin Hood Medieval (I prefer 3 ranger than few bonus dame and HP), Alexander (Max armor break- You will get half of your medal back through archievement), 2 generals that can be buy with gold with the same Age as me (I use Medal to focus on 4 Item set at the moment.) But it's only me as I like the conquest mode and play it many times, which give me a good amound of Golds.  You can farm gold with the defense mission later which give you 500 gold/1-2 mins. Faster than conquest. |

Marshal Hugh Dowding: In fact it is easieer. You have to have a 1 or 2 star mission and replay them, watch AI finish it and get 500 Golds. Quite fast and it's autoed, so you don't have to do anything.

hmm. currently playing conquest, but I was thinking of getting caesar. I think I will take suggestions here and get Nobunaga and Alexander (alexanders empire not quite died with him, and Nobunaga failed to unite japan while alive. I find it humorous to compare them, if I get both)
Reason it is important to choose wisely, is It appears you can only use 4 generals if you don't buy slots like in EW4, and Im not spending money on this. At least there is no training so I apparently don't need to keep a slot for a weaker training gen
