So what is your favorite book/movie in the franchise? (Other being different works by J.R. Tolkien pertaining to "Middle-Earth"...ex The Silmarillion, etc)
My favorite book would be the fellowship of the ring, favorite movie being return of the king.

I didn't read any of the books (which is a sin in itself) but all 3 movies were good. The 3rd one is my favorite because I love all of the different battles going on between Minas Tirith and the Mountain of Doom and then the distraction by Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli at the Black Gate.
Pardon me if I messed up the names of these locations as I have not seen a LOTR movie in quite a while. The last game I played was probably back in 2007 or so.

You should read the books (If you like reading of course) because they have a crap ton of more detail than the movies.

Perhaps one day I'll get to Lord of the Rings.

Heard of it, but I'm not interested in fiction.

TBH, the LOTR movie trilogy was way better than the Hobbit movie trilogy. Those movies should have been scrapped and redone. It was so cheesy with the non-canon add-ons, The Hobbit trilogy might as well be fan-fiction. There was no female elf in that book, no romance, btw.

Theyre all amazing. Lotr had a way better story than the hobbit, which was more action based to get more visits to the cinema. I go for lotr, but i hope they make another spin of soon like the hobbit.

But the LOTR books and movies are amazing The Hobbit is a waste of time, like netherfreek said, full of non-canon BS, like (spoiler alert) who TF is the pale Orc, he wasn't in the book, I read it 3 times, and no pale orc, or any orc that I remember, maybe an orc army in the battle of 7 armies (may have the number wrong, may be 5...), But besides that, it mentioned explicitly GOBLINS, G-O-B-L-I-N. The LOTR franchise is a lot better, at least the movie side, don't know about the books though, LOTR movies will always have a place in my heart as my favourite movie trilogy. Looking forward to the new set of movies coming out though.

The Two Towers gets a bad rep, but I must say that it's my favorite. I love the military struggles! I didn't read the Two Towers though... So of the books, it'd be Fellowship of the Ring.

They're making movies for the sumilarion or whatever it's called, coming out this year, the next, and AK the way to either 2020 or 2021, unless they canceled it...
