hmm, this is perhaps just applicable to my home-town and some other Canadian cities, but you can get a bunch of books at the local library, with I think more than 2 weeks to read. This is my primary method other than buying, as I only read certain novels on the internet, and rarely. While there is a wide selection, this likely suffers to some (perhaps smaller) degree the same downsides that Laurent de Gouvion mentions, but thats books for you. I just checked the my reading history part on the library website. Counting movies (a small minority) and repeated reads, I have a total of.....791 items. Damn. Must have forgotten so much.

That's how public libraries work everywhere is it not?

Well, yes, presumably. (number of weeks you can keep is debatable)
However I'm not sure everywhere on this planet possesses a public library. Back in the day they were only good for burning. I wonder if one can access university libraries. I've never gone anywhere with a sizeable collection. In fact I'm not even sure my school has a collection.
Edit: When I lived in calgary, really the only thing I remember is it cost money! Not just when you screwed up, but to start. Wasn't that bad, but its another way i'm spoiled as a Canadian. (That's right folks, Calgary is no longer in Canada. I bequeath it to Finland or something)

Does anyone know any good books for learning history, im sure there is a plenty of books that gives me more in depth info about the napoleonic era and all the famous french generals. Try Abebooks if you're interested in buying used books for cheap. Ofc, be sure to check if you think the book is decent for your purposes. I've brought a few real great ones from there.

My new cat woke me up... it's 5 am... Lol XD Cats are nocturnal creatures after all. Speaking of cats, I'm not a big fan of them, but I do like the book Maus. (Cat... mouse... Maus! Geddit?)

This cat is the best cat in the world tho.
It's a very affectionate cat, loves to be with people at all times but still more independent than a dog (and cheaper to take care of too).
I had wore flannel pj's, when it got too hot with both the pants and the blankets, I removed some layers. The cat didn't know, so it was stretching near me and poked me with the claws. Ow! That's how I woke up lol.

Speaking of cats... there're quite a few stray/feral cats around my neighbourhood, and there are also quite a few people who would feed them almost daily, and the cats never get any exercise (they are absolutely not afraid of humans) so you can see some obese (I mean obese. I once saw a cat that's round-ish.) I am familiar with this white-black-brown cat that could climb stairs, it climbed up the flat whenever the weather was a bit chilly for it, then eventually never it never came down, now it's practically living two floors above me; someone gave it a cardboard box, a pillow, and a collar and I believe they feed it too.
