Jagers were levied huntsmen from Hessen known for being superior marksman, fast reloaders, and ruthless mercenaries. Fought for the Brits during the American reveloution. Because of their strength in accuracy, they recieve this extra hex of range.

Furthermore, as they originated as hunters, they consume less of your food as they are able to forage for themselves.

Fought for the Brits during the American reveloution. Because of their strength in accuracy, they recieve this extra hex of range. Wouldn't it be more accurate to have them have a high chance to only take 1 damage (like defense art but only can activate when attacking) when attacking but still just have the one hex range. It's not very realistic at all to have them have such a high range.
