Look into getting Govorov; he's highly recommended.

Okey, I was thinking of going for Patton but I see that Govorov should be next. Thx for the answer!

Patton or Govorov - depends on what are you going to do next. For CWE Patton is better, For WW2 and aliens Govorov is better. And also Govorov is cheaper, in fact I recomend him anyway, Govorov is the best art gen and you need him for sure, but as for Patton, for example, I haven't bought him yet and most likely will not do it.

I see Govorov as a more defensive general. He's kind of like a tanker; tough and hard to kill, but slow to balance out.

Govorov is quite easy to kill: 120 hp and artillery has less native hp than tank. Sure, if you use him wisely, he can kill human enemies faster than they kill him, but he can't receive much damage.

Well, everyone trying to kill Govorov gets injured heavily, heavy injured units are not so strong, therefore sort of hard to kill. But no doubt Govorov is more aggressive.

Yes govorov is easy to kill, but once you upgrade his rank he is a beast on the battlefield. Irrelevant. Every general can be upgraded in HP (not that you would want to upgrade somebody terrible like Wingate!). Govorov is not a defensive general for absorbing damage purposes. He is effectively an offensive general dealing out damage while using an unit that you are not supposed to allow to recieve damage anyhow. Artilleries are meant for bombardment. Although the field artillery is somewhat respectable for defense against the aliens (only because all other units die too quickly due to damage bonuses aliens has).

Yep; I forgot to mention to upgrade Govorov's health to a suitable amount (170 or more). As I see it, Govorov has properties that make him DEFENSIVE but how he is used can mafke him OFFENSIVE. For, example, against German forces in '43, Govorov is an excellent tanky general in F.A. stationed in Leningrad, but (as with most of you) I use him to mainly ATTACK Helsinki and advance through the Baltics, but like I said, as with most generals - mainly Govorov, Vatutin, etc. - it depends on if you see defensive or offensive abilities in the generals themselves.
