hmm, never really understood Zhukov, at least in relation to the other two Grand Generals. Manstein is good Tank, Eisenhower is navy/air, while Zhukov is divided between Infantry and Artillery. He even has a pointless Tank skill taking up space already divided between inf/art. I feel like he was meant to be a jack of all trades and became jack of nothing. I haven't actually used any of them, but I think its obvious from stars and skills. Generally speaking all IAPs are not so good as they look like. Manstein is a bit worse than Guderian (with explosives instead if tide of iron and plain 1 star less plain fighting), Eisenhower compared with Yamamoto is the same in air and for Navy compared with Yamamoto or Nimitz - depends where you use him. Zhukov, is overall worse than Vasilevsky, but he has some survivability advantages in infantry. Sure, if we compare academy gens upgraded to marshal rank. I think IAPs are made just to make beginner's life easier, but when you have upgraded ECs even if you have all IAPs most likely you will use 3 ECs, Guderian, Manstein and Govorov. |

ye. I like how we went from the original topic of a recommended general to 1.5+ pages of why Govorov is offensive / defensive & other generals like him  Well it is ABOUT a recommended general. It's not a terrible derail like I have seen in the past in here... the Officers Lounge's section is even worse if you can believe it.  But hey, it's always a blast in there. I tend to spend more time in the Officers Lounge and the World In Flames than in here. Anyway, my recommendation for Govorov stands... he's an epic general, even more epic with the right usage of him! He's a pain to use in central Asia or Pacific where he moves so slowly though... So it's best to use him mainly for Europe, after taking it all, he should be alive and well enough (1939/43, not 1950/60/70) to give you Africa or America if you like to take more usage out of him before he dies. |
