Second facepalm... When a redneck thinks anything north of Ohio River is "The North" and calls everybody a yankee. Dude.... whatever "the North" was, it's pretty much all gone and faded into the distant past long since. As a man born and raised in Ohio, I never thought of myself as a Yankee, because we never said we're from the North. We're from the Midwest. New York to Maine... The area in Northeast still do keep the "North" culture and mutated it into Nor'Easterners thing. *They* are the Yankees, and they're proud of it. That's their thing. well that's just plain illogical! So basically according to these people every state north of the Ohio River is the North?! Isn't that too much "North"?

Being the Southerner I am, let me explain a few things. We still respect the Confederate flag because it's a source of heritage, not because we're sore losers. And while I don't consider anything south of New York Yankee country, many of us still do because of the many differences between our cultures, regardless of if it's in the North or Midwest. Also, we have the best food in the world. You can't beat fried chicken and homemade mashed potatoes.

Thank you for being less disrespectful than the average person from your area. I appreciate the few who has enough common sense to realize that there is an universe outside the South.
I'm still doing a facepalm at the hertiage excuse however... I don't believe in multiculturalism (I do believe in multiple cultures coexisting, but not all cultures are equal in validity).
The support for a defeated rebel faction is still unpatriotic toward the nation. It stand to reason that waving a confederate flag is still treason against the United States of America.
Unfortunately, it's popular among the current Southerners to wave a middle finger to the rest of America as well. SMH Let me add a good analogy:
Let say that a person did a misdeed of some sorts, and for the sake of the argument he had violated a law of some kind. Arrested and charged, then the person is brought forth in the front of the judge. Suppose the judge was curious enough to ask him why he had done it, then the person says that it's because of his hertiage says that he should do it.
If you were the judge, what would you have said in response to that?
If I was the judge, I would have leaned forward and said "Well as it may be, your hertiage has no bearings on the moral wrongfulness nor the legal wrongfulness of your behavior."
But this is precisely and exactly what the Southerners are using as a shield for their behavior and attitude.

But anyway, Confederate pride is not just honoring a long defeated wannabe nation. It's about honoring our freedoms and Southern culture. Unfortunately, many "Yankees" fail to realize this, so it's no surprise that such a division exists between our two cultures. And if somebody doesn't believe in letting us honor our own way of life, then that's just too bad, because absolutely nothing will change down here.

I believe that by "Less Disrepectful" Desophaeus meant that you are been more respectful than many OTHER Southerners often behave. I don't think Deso ment to imply that you were previously disrespectful. He was complimenting you not insulting or criticising you.

Watching videos on youtube, finds....
"Is the united states a country"
You know what some of their evidence is?
That Native Americans exist, and that some states have Separatists who love their local area more. Because no other country has ever had separatists....
Also, it pointed out that "only" 99% of Americans live on the American Continent.
Anyway, it told me that to find the real answer I have to go watch "is the European Union a country"
Edit: It just informed me that the European Union satisfies the country requirement of having people. It just so happens, so does powerless colonies.
I can't wait for the sequel- is the Arab League a country? Is the United nations a country?

Napoleon Bonaparte, Yeah, I think thats the one. Perhaps you have a rebuttal? I admit I may be biased, in fact my next statement would be I don't like the concept, which is proof.
