Hi all, I used to come to this forum before but I'm not a regular poster. I'm currently facing a dilemma. I have cleared all human campaigns, all conquests, level 5-8 on purple campaigns. This is my current line up, One EC gen (Major) with 3*art, 2*mov, 3*air, Lv2 (supply, barrage, street, plain, explosive). I'm literally stuck on alien and purple campaign missions, so I've decided to farm Japan 1975 to gain some industry. The question is, how good is Patton against aliens? Will he be able to help me breakthrough some of the campaigns if I buy him? I will have to sell Vatutin and Crerar to get enough medals, but is it better to leave things as it is and upgrade a new/current EC Gen? Thanks everybody

If you're trying to fight aliens, go for an eye-cover.

I say Patton, EC isn't needed until Aliens. Patton is good for street fighting also, and is the second best tank general in the game if you don't use IAP's.

As you are going to fight aliens, now it's better to build ECs. Especially keeping in mind that you already have Vatulin. Vetulin is better than Patton but he lacks explosives. If you have EC to crack cities, than there is no need for Patton. My crew is Guderian, Vatulin, tank EC, Govorov and 2 art ECs. Also sometimes Vasilevsky substitutes Vatulin, but that's not so important, I just bought him as 3rd gen most of all to proceed with missions and get Terracota Army, but in campaigns he is quite useful anyway.

For aliens, it's either Bai (don't want to farm, will need to buy Vas later), Konev (farm a little), or EC (farm a lot). Given your particular situation, I'd advise upgrading your EC a little, then going for an air General (Goring, Arnold, or Yamamoto). Sell Crerar, and also Ozawa if you go for Yamamoto

Thanks guys. I've upgraded all the skills to level 3. If Patton had tide of iron I would have definitely chosen him.
Konev isn't worth it imo as his skills don't synergize.
The EC general isn't cracking alien cities, but instead cracking alien souls and moral.
also, do the final version of long range ballistic missle cover every city on 1975 map?

Art EC can crack cities and attack towers in campaigns very good. Highest level missiles don't cover all 75 map, for sure you can't shot them in South America , Australia, I think somewhere else too (where you don't have lv3 airports too), don't remember, but these 2 places were the biggest problem.
