I understand. One of the key is you upgraded the debluff skills to lvl 6. Nobunaga to lvl 8 Nobunaga is the key general since he has two debluff skills. Yes. For the defense missions powerful archers set is very important. As soon as Nobunaga is the first general in my lineup he is moving as the first one - shooting/debuffing, then shooting back and debuffing again - most of the powerful enemy generals are debuffed after thefirst round. But for the most difficult missions general with rumor skill was extremely important also.I replayed several missions dozens of times changing the set of generals, their consequence in a row and items equiped on them.

Is Angkor much tougher than Almaty?
I'm currently saving coins to build it but realised that it could be a massive anti-climax as in Almaty I've only got 2*, 1* & 3* in missions 1, 2 & 10 and nothing in the rest. In fact I still get comfortably beaten by enemies at level 40-something even though I'm at 58!

Just keep strengthening your gens & your line-up and pray for good luck. This should get you the 3* you want.

Yeah I had a similar experience with Carthage but managed to max them all recently, however that was mainly about getting 3* whereas in Almaty I can't even get 1* on most of them! The dilemma I'm facing is that at 200k to build Angkor I may be better off at this time building 2-3 other cities for the same cost and bumping up my total cities towards the next free daily mission at 125 (although I'm currently sitting at only 103). Decisions decisions!

The later the defense city appears, the tougher will be. Osaka is the toughest.
I recommend the change of tactics, try use generals with rumor.
For example, I was long time at level 99, all generals on level 6, and even with three archer generals (Nobunaga, Li Hongzhang, Nelson) I couldn't beat one single Genghis Khan in one Osaka mission. Even Li's 100% cavalry bonus didn't help, even Nelson's and Li's Commander skills, because the fight was usually lost before they even triggered. After I raised Nobunaga and Li debuff skills to 90%, I was able to finish it, barely for 1 star.
Then I used Bismarck instead of Nelson, and just had to wait for Rumor to trigger. It took many attempts, but finally, when the Rumor triggered twice, I killed Genghis for 3 stars.

Unfortunately I don't have any generals with rumour yet. The good news though (for me, anyway) is that I unexpectedly passed the 200k coins mark last night and built Angkor anyway and already have more stars than I do in Almaty! Perhaps I just need to be a bit smarter in Almaty by trying different lineups and giving them the best kit I have, but it does seem a bit tedious for not much in return.

I believe this formation is the most efficient in terms of gens VS defense gen: - Nobunaga Oda (2X debuff & +50% dmg to ALL enemies) - Bismarck (rumour, anti-cav & 3-hex range) - Attila (no retaliation atk, cav com & +80% dmg to inf) - Nelson (arch com & 3-hex range)

Ha ha, I happened to find myself with the exact same dilemma so I did a quick search on Angkor and found this thread, and lo and behold I had the same concerns last time. It seems history does repeat itself sometimes
