Hey all, new to the forums here. If I have misplaced the thread somewhere I apologise.
Right now I'm sitting on 2100 medals, wondering if I should buy another general, more specifically an infantry general as I have a number of good gens already. Big fan of the game so I have spent a reasonably considerable amount of money buying the 3 marshals, have guderian, yamamato, Konev and Choe (who was okay at the start).
Tossing up whether I should buy someone like mannerheim or continue down the path of upgrading my ion cannon which is level 15.

Govorov or Patton are better.

Govorov or Patton are better. I was thinking of Patton but is it wise to have a 3rd tank general? Also thinking of getting goering to replace Eisenhower as the air general so I can use him possibly for a navy position.

Three tank generals is fairly common, but you can also make Manstein an artillery. Govorov is definitely also recommended.

Welcome to the forum.
I had Yamamoto, he is good enough Air and is reasonably fast artillery, which is better than Goring infantry. I wish I had Eisenhower!
The only thing I would add, is probably best to get more generals. I sunk a lot of in-game medals on Ion cannon, did not get super far, but apparently the prices get really high. You can farm for months at least.

Now I'm not sure how much more gold is given to a city like Berlin but 2 air generals on reasonably big cities sounds very attractive to me. Still, I will work towards another general, tank preferably. I was edging towards Patton and I will probably pick him over Rommel. Money is not an issue for me. It's not often I spend money on games so I'm happy to buy medals if need be every so often. Thank you thus far for the help, I appreciate it.

Ok. If you prefer Goring, well so do many. Have they tried Yamamoto though? He is obviously lacking the money, which air-gens are best for. I had Rommel, not Patton. I like Rommel, but your choice is likely better. No problem sacredelbrus , I'm glad to help. And receive recognition is a bonus. Somebody should link how many medals it takes for full or partial ion cannon. It is a LOT. Good game, but be careful.

Did you upgrade your EC's? (Eye covered generals) I honestly don't know how to make them stronger. I can up their health, give them perks but I don't know how to add stars to their skills.

I honestly don't know how to make them stronger. I can up their health, give them perks but I don't know how to add stars to their skills. Stars can be gained upgrading skills named ability, for example, panzer ability, artillery ability, marching ability. But in fact skills are not less useful than stars if used wisely. For example, 2-4 tank/art star gives you 4 damage each, but plain fighting gives you 5 damage, sure, only on plains, but plains are almost everywhere and 4th tank star, which gives 4 damage, costs more than lv1 + lv2 + lv3 plain fighting, which give you in total 15 damage. The best way to upgrade your EC is plain fighting, explosives, supply (for all kind of gens) and tide of iron+blitzkrieg for tank gens or artillery barrage+street fighting for art gens. The best way for upgrades is to buy cheapest of available upgrades instead of air, navy and speed, in most cases speed is enough 1 before you can afford 4 and navy+air - when you will need it (sure, there are exceptions, but if you do it right this way it is quite good).

To add on, these star upgrades to your EC's can be applied from the academies in the tutorial section, just as how you can apply skills as mentioned earlier. Recap: From "HQ HUD", -> "Missions" -> "Choose from the following academies stated below" -> go to "Tutorial" -> Look for ability. These upgrades can be found in: Upgrading your infantry skill: "Infantry Ability", found @ international military academy (The one located in Turkey) Upgrading your armored forces skill: "Panzer Ability", found @ Berlin military academy (Germany) Upgrading your artillery skill: "Artillery Ability", found @ Frunze military academy (The one located in Russia) Upgrading your air skill: "Air Force Ability", found royal military academy (Britain) Upgrading your navy skill: "Navy Ability", found @ Japanese military academy (Japan) And to upgrade marching skill (how far a troop w/ gen can go): "Marching Ability", found @ West Point military academy (The US academy to the right) The following thread can also help you locate the other skills such as the ones mentioned by Max Otto Von Stierlitz european-war-4.boards.net/thread/3839/attention-all-players-wc3-guide?page=1

So to obtain the stars you upgrade the 'navy ability' 'infantry ability' and so on. Thanks guys. I'm thinking of turning my EC into an artillery guy, I had already equipped supply and explosives so I'll follow the line Max had prescribed.
