Heey everyone I´m actually struggeling with those crasy VIII challenge Missions...I think it´s impossible to win, because meanwhile I´ve got most of the best generals and upgrades (Guderian, Patton, Govorov, Nagano etc., tank skill max..) and I´d need at least 2 more rounds to accomplish those missions. Anyone here with other experience??? I also got stuck at "Rescue the Ally VI (6)" cause my Ally always gets bombed away by the aircraft carriers <_<... another question beside: does anyone use that quest-mode on the apple version of WC3? Thx 4 answers

On Rescue VI, I put 2 generals on the 2 submarines and use them rush to the aircraft carrier in the bottom left of the map. I also build submarine whenever the resource allow me so that I can take out all the aircraft carrier quick. I ignore the destroyer ships because they help blocking MacArthur from landing. I put Guderian on the tank and help clearing the French troops. Also, I use the motorized infantry to run around Vietnam so that I can build some fort to defend the landing forces.

Just finished this one (Hold ground 8). Barely.
Background. I have max upgrade of artillery and tanks. Used Manstein, govorov, konev, badoglio, Zhukov, and Eisenhower.
Avoid the base. Keep everyone more than 3 hexes away. Any closer is suicide.
There's really no easy strategy, I don't think, more of just using all the basic strategies we all know. Here's the list of what I did:
Make rocket artillery whenever you can.
Try to hit multiple targets when your RA fires.
Hit with things other than your super tank so your tank can hit multiple targets.
If your main city is empty, fill with infantry (if carriers are closer) or battalion artillery (if saucers are closer). You'll save your other units if there's bait, but when they come in waves, it gets tricky. I ended up moving the super tank in for one turn because of this
Hit the saucers first.
Try to keep the little city, but don't stress if you lose it. I did lose it but got it back with minimal effort.
Let your battleship soak up damage. Hit with it as needed but try not to.
Despite all of these really good, established strategies, at the end I still needed to throw an assault infantry (all I could afford) and Eisenhower (who I had saved just for this) to hold out on the last turn.
Not saying this is the best or only strategy, but it worked.

Those two seem a bit impossible to me haha But never say never, hm? Both are douable but i think i played them both over the 100 times. I only won after i had max art and very strong generals. The thing with the first mission is that you need the allie who cannot die going up near your naval base. Destroy asap the armis on land and keep your naval base. Try and try and try for the allien 1 i succeded after perfectly strategy all sets. You have to get the allien city in the second round. After that get you art. carriers with strong generals. Keep that city with an air general. Drop the bom at the base in sea since you attacks are stronger on land. Dont waste time on the alliens who have no red circle but keep your cities, after getting the city send some to the ufos in water at the oil platform and others to finish allien landbase after making yiur new 2 art.carr drop your bomb and finish the base (after a while you get expert in the mission but not finishing it on time). Good luck

If I remember it correctly, I attacked the aliens right away so that my allies can live longer. I stayed right beyond the tower range and focused fire on aliens with red circle. Don't remember much detail though but you need good generals with some navy stars.

Bradley and Clark might have some special effect on this? What do you think?
