While on voyage, we approached a Mail Dinghy. I was selected to board the vessel.
*rolling for whether I break down. 9 or higher I do so*
FmXvXp3A
I successfully brought myself to it, sailing past my fears.
What was odd about this assignment, was that the mail dinghy didn't even hail us. We thus HAD to board this adrift vessel, and found it empty of human life.
Worse, it was covered in French Tricolours. From the roof to the floor.
*rolling for whether another person grabs the letter. This seems unlikely so minimum of 10*
Good to see the other Scotsman among our party, a old seaman named Richard, has kept his curiosity, so uncommon, abated.
I pick up a errant letter, and to my astonishment it is addressed to me. The two others in this compartment demand I read it, and so I do.
GET *REDACTED
A supicious powder strikes me in the fact, and Instantly I burn. "The Lieutenants down!" screams Rowland. Richard instantly grabs Bolitho's quivering form, and administers what aid he knows.
*Rolling for whether I get sick or die. Minimum of 9 to die*

November 15th
French Frigates are trying to escape, such a blunder on our part likely wouldn't be tolerated. I grab my weapons and rally my Scots-Irish companions. Ce soir, les porcs de Napoleón dînent avec Davy Jones!
Rolling for whether or not we catch up to them before the day ends. I'd say a 7? 6lGid7d1
We've caught Napoleón now! The Captain lines up for a broadside with the Noibe in tow behind us, rolling for damage.
They hardly had an effect! Rolling for the damage the French were dealt.
THEY WERE DECIMATED! The enemy's batteries are unoperational, and the crews battered!
I lead a first-wave boarding party onto the Elisa with the scots and the Irish shipmates. Rolling for the skirmish's outcome.
The French onboard surrender after heavy fighting. Rolling as to whether or not I kill the Elisa's captain.
I am severely, if not mortally, wounded in my engagement with the captain.
I'm gonna try something out here. Let's roll to see where I'm injured. 2-4 a leg, 5-7 an arm, 8-10 my chest, 11-12 my head.
I sustained a gunshot and sword-puncture wound to my chest. Internal bleeding is great.
EST-CE LA FIN DES BURGES?!?! TROUVEZ LA PREMIÈRE FOIS !!! ···········

OOC Are actually able to die in this? OOC. Well, Bolitho died by way of dice, so... I guess. Not all battles will see the survival of a major character, and not all men will survive the plague.

This is a test run, so no deaths for now. Mermaids resurrect Bolitho. However with public demand permadeath might be a feature in future Commander-type RPs.

OOC: Why not have it when/if your character dies you can make a new one? Alright, I'll do a poll and consider it. For now, magical resurrection still is feature. Edit: my biggest worry for now is players leaving because their character died. Other than popular demand, if you all show commitment to the game and can create a new character, then so be it.

September 13
After we took the Sirius, we come across one more British frigate, the HMS Africaine. I send some men back onto the Sirius to fix up some of its damages, while we focus on taking the Africaine. Some men are put high up to snipe their crew, while we fire a broadside at their starboard side. (Rolling for effect.) xhi3fESy
We disable a few of their guns, and a few of their men are picked off, but one of our own men got shot back. Now we try to damage them a bit more before we board their ship, firing at their rudders. (Rolling for rudder damage.)
Their rudders are pretty heavily damaged, so I take my loyal men and lead them to board the Africaine. (Rolling for effect of battle.)
We get completely pushed off the ship, and I get shot in the leg. (Rolling to see how bad it is.)
It's moderately bad, so I won't be walking on that leg anytime soon. Anyway, I send more men to try to board the Africaine again. (Need a 6 to board this time.)
We fight our way onboard with a moderately hard fight, but we don't find the captain yet. We head belowdeck to try and find the captain, as well as to get rid of the rest of the ship's crew. (Need another 6 for this.) . Their captain is found and captured, and most of their crew has now been shot. But with British reinforcements on their way, we decide to burn this ship and let the captain and his crew fare for themselves. By now, the Sirius has been patched up enough to get it going again, so I order a skeleton crew to man the Sirius and bring it after us, while we all get out of there before the British can come after us.

Action of 18 September Bolitho was brought back from the brink by the great work of the Ceylon's Doctor, and by the early aid of Richard the Scot. Some also say Mermaids were in on it, but others who are clearly fools claim they are manatees soooo. Over the weeks Bolitho regains his strength. Little did he know, he went from the Brink to the Brine Fire. *Rolling for who sights who. Also for whether I can attack first I guess. Thats more realistic than me getting an advantage from first sight* MmctQdbMBetter not waste a 10! *proceeds anyway* His Majesty's Ship Ceylon plows towards the enemy, and opens up with its chasers. Some success is made with the attack, but its no more than functional. We launch the first Broadside. We deal....functional damage. Rolling for sharpshooters Slightly more than functional. The French suffer losses from both Shot and...Shot. Also some derailed Cannons, or gun crews simply evaporating in a instant. The enemy Frigate responds. OOC: pretty bad roll for the French, but then again it ate my post. French Sharpshooters then? Unsurprisingly the French dogs fail to make an impression with their riflemen...not that they even deserve the name. Rolling for what the Indiaman does. nigeria ·······················
