The crew of the Astree is put on the lookout for any of the strange mail dinghies that are now all across the oceans. (Need a 7 for Mickael to find any.) zIDb2abM One dinghy is found, but no crew is found on board, only some money and letters from some Scot... Weird. Letter to Officer Broke.
I hope this letter finds you well. I certainly hope it doesn't find it in the hands of those its not addressed to. Such as Santa Ann, your wife.
Enclosed is the Secret message you asked for. Along with 5 pence.

July-December 1810
Action of 3 July 1810 (Minerve - The Spanish Inquisition , best75 ) Cruising off the island of Mayotta, the squadron of Guy-Victor Duperre encounters a convoy of three East Indiamen, Ceylon, Windham, and Astell. Led by Henry Meriton, a captain who had successfully defended convoys against raids before, the convoy of Indiamen poses a challenge for the French squadron. Still, with the frigates Bellone and Minerve as well as the brig Victor, Duperre attacks, confident it his squadron’s superiority.
Players aboard the Minerve must react to the event. Indiamen are strong merchant ships with 26 guns each in this engagement, so be wary. This is an event chain; more will come. (Note: Try to put in individual actions in the battle. See how well your battery goes, perhaps duel the captain, maneuver the ship brilliantly into position, etc. Seize glory for your own!)

July-December 1810 Our squadron is attacking a convoy of Indiamen. The Minerve is focusing on Astell. Seeing if I can move the ship into boardside posistion without being in posistion to get hit by their boardside cannons. 7 pus4LqIt 6. We both face each other boardside
Rolling for effectiveness of cannon fire Theirs
15 rolled Ours
12 They have quite an effective fire. We suffer some damage. Will need some repairs
Rolling to see if my battery can disable some enemy cannons. 7
Serveral of their cannons are disabled.
We are moving to board their ship. I spot their captain. Will duel him. Rolling for how well my duel against him goes
8 rolled. Hes likely to be quite a skilled duellist so a 8 means we do alright and draw ·············

July-December 1810
July
July 4th Its the Americans day of independence from Britain. I try not to bring it up TOO often, but it's hilarious to piss the brits off. Cockney accents and all.
Other Events in July The Channel is quite sound. It's eerie. Especially considering the rumors of mail dinghys showing up throughout the world...I've not seen it myself, but I don't know if I want to.
Taking a day in the crow's nest. Looking around for any signs of Napoleon's Laquais or some Mail dinghys. 4 below a mail dinghy, 5-8 nothing, 9-12 a French vessel. aPjy|Or8

Picking up where Lt. Lessard left off on the Minerve During the battle, Captain Bouvet appears to be preparing an escape plan. This is cowardly, so I challenge him to a duel. Let's call it a 9 or more to win, 6 or less to lose, and 7 or 8 to draw _IKCY6RHAfter the duel, I make some repairs to the ship. Let's see how they go I also send another letter to the Scotsman ( Imperial RomeBall) containing suspicious white powder. Rolling to see its effects on his health ········

The Spanish Inquisition , interesting turns, but saying that Imperial RomeBall falls sick is Godmodding. You've successfully sent a lethal white powder to him, but him falling sick or not goes to the character. Anyway, don't forget that you still have 2 ships to deal with ( best75).

If the numbers say he's sick, he'd be sick just out of luck. If the player could choose to be sick or not, then that would potentially be godmodding.

If he opens the letter, he would be sick. That is true. However, he has a choice in opening the letter. Imperial RomeBall can't use this OOC information to open the letter, though. Considering his character, he'd open it unless he invents some IC reason. Now, I'm going to say that de Cabert's powder is lethal and untraceable, so any attempts from Bolitho to snuff it out would be quite hard. I don't have any problem with the idea of what he's doing, but the way he phrases it. Bolitho is very likely to be poisoned. It's like one of those situations in Alt-His where your entire army faces militia. You still roll.

Governor Decaen,
On the 3rd day of the month of July, my squadron encountered a convoy of East Indiamen Windham, Ceylon, and Astell, commanded by Henry Meriton. As the sun sets, we have all of these ships in the bottom of the sea or in our hands, and Meriton a prisoner in my hold.
Of particularly meritorious performance was the Brig Victor, who captured Ceylon despite being the smallest of us all. The Minerve captured the Astell and her timely arrival saved my Bellone from defeat by Meriton.
.....
.....
Owing to his brave actions in the battle, commanding a rather successful battery, dueling the Astell's captain, and alerting the Minerve's captain to my predicament, Lt. Lessard was planned to be given command of the Astell. I ask you to consider his actions and perhaps honor him. However, a personal recommendation by Captain Bouvet has made me to give Lt. de Cabert command of the Astell. Discontent seems to be afoot in the Minerve.
.....
.....
Signed,Guy-Victor Duperre
The Spanish Inquisition , you have a ship! Though it was a political decision (to prevent a mutiny), you have a ship! Anyway, people on the Minerve, rest and repair your ships. You have a true naval battle incoming. The British have seized Ile Bourbon, planning to take Mauritius.
