BTW, remember Isabella's training stars- the only thing that can't be trained.

I finished the whole game with all campaign stars without spending any money. I used sophia isabella, victoria not upgraded and lan.
I found that sophia with 5 art and 4 movement hexes dealt a lot more damage than isabella because i attacked the right targets. I know isabella can deal more damage to soldiers on normal terrains but sophia has seige master so she deals more damage to soldiers in cities. I'm a player who s/l a lot and i realised there was a big difference between the damage the two dealt. Trust me, Sophia is a lot better. I'm not making it up.

Isabella has accurate, negating any resistance provided by cities or in mountains- a biggie for HRE ottoman. Did you read my previous post on page 1? The amount of stars you'd have to farm for a max Sophia in artillery, navy, and at least probably 3 stars movement is astounding. Of course Sophia's going to do more damage on normal terrain, not Isabella, explosive is much better than ballistics= practically nothing.

And so the dance continues.
Once again into the Breach.
On and On South of Heaven.
Personally I used Sophia to American conquest (as far as I got), and found her good. I hate farming but upgraded her artillery, trade (oops?) and think movement.
On the other hand, on another device I've started using Isabela and she seems really good.
Who wins? I Dunno.
Not sure the explosive=warhorse argument works, as she can swap the warhorse once done moving for that extra attack item supposedly only available to Isabela. Don't remember but I believe you only need one warhorse for the whole team due to this.
If you have the stamina for S/L you should be able to manage with one warhorse?

For HRE ottoman conquest, you use Isabella for ottoman front and sophia for italy. I know accurate is the best artillery skill but if you use sophia properly, she is better.
I will repeat myself one more time.
How to use sophia: Target soldiers in cities first. In campaigns, the enemy general is usually in a city so sophia can deal lots of damage to them. Target soldiers that are on flat plain so no evasion. Target forts. It's not hard. There should always be one of these targets.
Isabella can just target any soldier because of accurate.
It might cost quite a few medals to upgrade Sophia but she has the potential whereas isabella has no potential as hybrid. She is just an art general.
Overall, sophia deals more damage on artillery provided you use her correctly and she can be a hybrid.

Siege master I believe negates the evasion in cities, which accurate does also, so why would Sophia do more to cities besides the fact that explosve > ballistics? As a bonus, accurate also deprives hidden evasion in cities, which siege master does not. Just because she can be used as a hybrid does not mean she's better. That's like saying Savary is better than Dumouriez because he as navy potential and Dumouriez is just a cav general. IMO spy is a great skill, but it's way too subjective. You might only use it a few times when rushing. Grenadiers do fine mopping up forts. Quite a few? Diez is 540 medals, don't know how much the cheapest navy general is, artillery doesn't really matter that much- there's only one star difference in the beginning. But the important thing for me is Isabella's 4 training stars, which means she has great survivability right off the bat- 4 training stars plus engineering with geography. Isabella is also has good trading stars if you need that.

How do you know siege master negates evasion? Even if it does, you contradicted yourself. You said at the beginning that siege master negates evasion and then you went on to say that it doesn't in the following line.
Isabella's trading star is useless because there is always a general that has 3 trading stars in campaign.
540 seems a lot but if you go through the campaigns, you get medals quickly and i was able to farm a lot of medals quickly.

It negates evasion only in cities. But there's hidden evasion too- read up about it on some of the posts here. Siege master only negates evasion in cities, not hidden evasion or terrain evasion. Not necessarily. I believe North American landings you can get snare drum, and though you have Jervis, he can't go on the city you get snare drum (Jervis on Ironclad). The other highest I think is like 1 or 2 stars trading. 540 times two it should be to get Sophia to decent movement. 1080 medals is around like 15 missions assuming you get the 5 stars (50 medals) plus the 20 medals.

Each has her uses; each has an area in which she is superior. I'm going to view Isabella, when I get her, as an extra Sophia with built-in Warhorse.
Yes, grenadiers can take forts on, but sometimes the forts are right next door to a city you want, and a maxed-out Sophia is wonderful for smashing those in 1-2 turns. Even if she doesn't kill it immediately, it's often so weak after the first hit that it doesn't do your infantry much damage; and if she's got warhorse and horse artillery loaded in, she can be on the way to her next target and finish the fort off en passant.
The other thing that's quite good for forts etc, is Dumouriez on double guards cavalry, maxed out to five stars. That doesn't cost much to do (Agha is cheap), and it seems to be giving his output a consistent lift to a new level.
(I'd regroup Kutaisov into Sophia at once, but I've been having too much fun with small nations and six generals. The only problem is that the platform I've got my six generals on is 99-turn-limited. I need to fire up the other one and grind some more.)

.org/] Sophia. My one and only fort and city cracker. Breaks forts easily. Kills generals in cities quickly. Destroys docked ships really fast. Good for urban warfare, not that good for outdoors. Moves rather slowly. .org/] Isabela. My one and only field artillery general. Negates terrain defense bonuses for the defending units. Great for moving through mountains and forests. Moves fast. Good for sniping distant near-dead generals and units. Useful in eliminating enemy units located in hard to reach areas. The title of the thread shoulod be "Sophia and Isabela." Both are really good if used properly.

Antonio Luna, you are correct. The only time to select one over the other is maybe if you're playing four slots and you want a combat-capable trainer to fill the fourth. In that case, if you needed to move really fast, Isabela and two Horse Artilleries is going to beat Sophia (who can only take one if she also needs Warhorse).

But personal preference also plays a part when playing with 4 slots only. I personally prefer Sophia over Isabela. Generals on forts and high level cities are more of a nuisance to me than those generals out on the field.

Antonio Luna, I agree, and it also depends very much on where you are in the game and if you are under time constraints. If you already have all the princesses, there is no need to rush ever again; if you're having a game just to relax and unwind, there is also no need to rush (unless you are playing as a small nation on a limited-turns platform, in which case it can be difficult or impossible to finish in under 100). On the other hand, if you're going for Victoria or Lan, or something has gone wrong in a campaign battle and you're racing to make up ground and get the five-star victory, speed is in order. But as you have hinted, speed is a combination of both moving across the map and killing the enemies in your path, and superior firepower saves turns. I used to put Sophia always on rocket artillery because the enemy couldn't fire back, but realised there was a disadvantage if she didn't kill the enemy unit immediately - there is no firing back in the AI's turn with rockets. Now she gets a siege gun all the time, and often at the end of the AI turn I find the damaged target has been destroyed. Although now she's been boosted up, her chances of delivering a one-shot kill with rockets are much bigger. I should try her on rockets again.

When my Sophia and Isabella were still young (98hp and below), I tend to pair each with either a cav or an infantry gen. Once they reached the 110 hp mark, they can go alone with just one Guards escort for capturing cities and defending. Sometimes I use small forts as decoys as well. Talking about which artillery piece to use, my choice always depends on which country and unit system I am using. Britain: Rockets for both France, Prussia, Austria, Russia, Ottoman: Siege Artillery for Sophia, Heavy Artillery for Isabella Others: Siege Artillery for Sophia, Rockets for Isabella I know I can't have all of the good stuff artillery can offer in one general so I just give them their own objectives and use other means to supplement what they lack. Both arty princesses are just so good that by positioning them carefully in the campaign missions, eliminating key targets were easy, which in turn making 5* great victories easier to reach. Furthermore, I always use them together when playing with the small countries. Like you I also have fun using the small ones when I'm bored. I only need one flag for America 1775 and my decorations are complete. Too bad it only shows 7 flags for each conquest scenario.
.org/] Once I add one last flag and train my 6 princesses to maximum potential and give them the best items, I'll finish the Final Battle mission, get the last 5 stars I need, and complete the campaign. After that there's nothing else for me to do in EW4 so I might as well uninstall the game and wait for WC4 for android or possibly EW6. EW5 is not appealing to me because of the kiddy graphics.
