General just sounds and feels good IMO. Many (in media and possibly IRL) address nobles as General.
Plus, who doesn't want an actual army rank?

King means that you are royalty and is in control of land. (Usually Princes and Princesses - other nobles, do not get actual land to rule until they succeed the throne, ie become King or Emperor etc.)
