I have a question. If you like someone's post, then you unlike it and like it again, does this person get 2 or 1 notifications?

Slightly cracking under pressure at the moment... today is one of my final exams. It will account for 30% of the entire course grade. Will I do well? What are you studying? Java, the teacher isn't really clear in his lectures and often is very confusing to listen to, and the in-class materials are pretty poor, and ofc we have too many useless people on the internet who says "you're supposed to know this" then fails to explain anything useful anyway. Then on Wednesday, my last one is Calculus, which is better. The teacher explains well, and there's plenty of materials in and outside the classroom, but he is a very demanding and difficult teacher.

Well which one is it or is it both or something like that?

Java, the teacher isn't really clear in his lectures and often is very confusing to listen to, and the in-class materials are pretty poor, and ofc we have too many useless people on the internet who says "you're supposed to know this" then fails to explain anything useful anyway. Then on Wednesday, my last one is Calculus, which is better. The teacher explains well, and there's plenty of materials in and outside the classroom, but he is a very demanding and difficult teacher. We never use the term calculus in the UK, is it maths/algebra or something else Algebra, oh not really... this is a lot more advanced than algebra. Calculus deals a lot more math involved. For example: in algebra, you know how to get the slope of a straight line, but what about curved lines or even polynomials? You will need the first derivative to give yourself the slope of a line intersecting the function anywhere on the domain of the function. Also, without a picture of the graph, would you be able to identify where the function rises and fall, were you only given the function Y=(7X-3)(X+1)? If you find the first derivative and the points where the slope equals to zero, and then the in-between segments results in postive output of the first derivative would give you the domain of the function that is rising, and negative output of the first derivative gives you the domain of the function where it is falling. With the first derivative, you can also locate the local minimum, maximum, (and if any exist: the absolute minimum and/or maximum) at the precise points along the domain without a graph. And if the second derivative exist, you can take the derivative of the first derivative, giving yourself the second derivative. With that, you could use it to find the points along the original function where the curve changes in concavity (curve up or curve down). With the postive output of the second derivative, it tells you that this in-between segment is concave up. With the negative output of the second derivative, it tells you that this in-between segment is concave down. I haven't even told you about the anti-derivatives (or integrals). Calculus is way more advanced than algebra.

Desophaeus, it seems we are studying the same stuff I'm at an university which is a lot more rigorous and pushy than a high school in my experience. What about you? High school or college?

I for one always sucked at algebra in high school, but currently at the university calculus is one of the easier subjects to me. Though indeed most people really hate calculus.
