Dieppe was a stroke of military brilliance, and anyone who says otherwise is ignoring the facts! For the Germans or the British, because one of them lost the battle drastically and the other shouldn't have won, but by luck they did.

According to the polls, staying in Stalingrad is as stupid as the whole war! The war and Stalingrad seem to be always connected...

IMO it's going to be Operazione E and the Greco-Italian War, both started by the Italians, which forced Germany to waste troops in Nth Africa and the Balkans respectively instead of, I don't know, something like fighting the UK or invading the USSR. Then again, no Operazione E means no Rommel (and his vs Monty and Patton), and no El Alamein or Tobruk. Edit: some analysis by a biased amateur historian who is half-asleep. The Bulge was more of a last effort kind of thing by Germany, there would've been another like it if they didn't bet on the Ardennes. Kursk wasn't idiotic at all, it would've happened somewhere along the front, they just choose the Kurst salient instead of anywhere else. Market Garden was an absolute waste of time, but didn't really change much. Winterstorm was stupid, but not as stupid as Italy invading Egypt by themselves and getting rekt, or Italy invading Greece and getting rekt by a nation less than half its size. Kiev was due to Stalin being stupid and Budyonny being another 'hurr durr tanks are stupid trenchs and cavalry OP' WWI general. WWII was pretty much invietable because the Versailles system was guaranteed to make many people angry. IDK can't really be analysed.

Yeah, Versailles was a complete failure, only triggering anger of many people, and eventually being the main reason of the WWII. Bulge I voted for because even though it delayed the allies advance towards East by 3 weeks, it made germany fall 6 month earlier(then the senario where Bulge never happened). Plus, everybody was against it except hitler. Anyways, what is your opinion Ivan Kolev? I know you know a lot of history

Plus, everybody was against it except hitler. Anyways, what is your opinion Ivan Kolev ? I know you know a lot of history Dumbest battle? How does the Aleutian Campaign sound? Japanese idiocy: The Japanese wanted to attack Midway Island and destroy a large part of the American fleet there. They believed a diversionary invasion of the Aleutians would be able to divert American forces away from Midway so that the Japanese could sweep in and take out the remainder at Midway. Little did they know that we had cracked figured out the Japanese plan to attack Midway after we learned they were cracking our codes at Midway. It is believed that after learning that the Japanese were cracking our codes there, we sent a report to Midway about how there were major water issues, hoping to catch the Japanese in reporting that information. Sure enough, our code breakers saw that the Japanese reported water issues at Midway as well. After that, we knew the Aleutian attack was just a diversion and kept our forces at Midway. Good thing too, as four Japanese aircraft carriers would be sunk at Midway, making it the decisive battle of the Pacific War. Now, we Americans aren't the brightest either. American idiocy: So after the Japanese occupied the Aleutians, we kinda forgot about it for a little bit, until one day we remembered that Alaska was a part of our country and that we should maybe get on the Japanese forces in the Aleutians. For real though, the Japanese could launch air attacks on U.S naval bases in Alaska like Dutch Harbor and we were also fearful that they could use the island chain as a base to attack even the West Coast. So a combined American-Canadian force land at the Aleutians in May of 1943. Turned out that almost no Japanese were left on the islands, however, and the few who were there were awfully suicidal. As such, they launched one of the largest banzai raids of the war at Attu island, where only 28 of the nearly 2,800 Japanese on the island survived. This happened near the aptly named Massacre Bay. Now, by the end of the campaign, 144,000 troops had been committed to the Aleutian Islands Campaign. 144,000. Yes. For these Northern rocks. While it was necessary to retake the Aleutians, I personally believe 144,000 men was just a little overkill on the part of the Americans.

I say staying in Stalingrad. It was stupid to force thousands of troops to sit in a surrounded city and eventually they surrendered. Yup it cost the Germans one of the best equipped and trained armies they had in Russia, and yet Hitler insisted they hold out

Also he thought retreat=failure.
