Sophia,Lannes and Napoleon (+ regular HRE starting generals) You will need a decent cavalry general for the western front. So it depends on what unit you put Lannes on. Based on your setting, Lannes is good enough for the main cavalry role but you will need a warhorse for Sophia and Napoleon.

It basically gives the general Geography skill. - I did much worse than you when I just started EW4.

Before i try to get lan, can you tell me if what i have is enough:
golitsyn sophia 5 art 4 movement isabella 5 art 3 movement
all my generals have high rank and nobility, all 100+ for rank and 5+ for nobility. I have warhorse, snare drum, 2+ movement items, 6+ tent and attack items 6+ for cav and artillery. i will keep switching the items out when necessary. By the time i attempt to get lan, i would have gotten 5 stars for all campaigns in hre, imperial eagle and coalition. I'm not saying its gonna be easy but do you think i can get below 31 turns if i play properly?

Pre guide best 43 turns Generals used fatimah (economy) Sophia & marmont (artilary), loyalty 3s mid ranked. (+warhorse) What went wrong or not ideal - French general did not attack Zurich so slowed me down on route to Spain, Amsterdam held so needed an assist at around turn 20 if general coming out to fight as well, Napoleon skiped Sicily but landed on mainland. Also had to liberate Plymouth and help take back Southampton from the French around turn 30. In short map did not play as normaly would . Spanish Navy general blockaded and atacked in Port with frigates with hre cavery general assisting. Result new best 35 turns and hello Isabella. Additional-gold & food maxed, industry at 3300+ Only modified general so far fatimah with merchant skill maxed.

1 good Cavalry (with 2 stars+Strike) is a minimum. You should have 1 cav and 2 arty generals. I'd say for you Sophia in Italy, Isabela in Turkey, and some Cavalry dude in the West

When you attempt to get lan, make sure to level up your generals as much as possible, and get all the necessary items: snare drum, warhorse, 2+ movement items, 6+ tents, 6+ attack items for artillery and cavalry. You can keep switching these items for your generals, it might be tedious but if you do it right the first time, you don't have to repeat the conquest to get it under 31 turns.
You can get the medals for these items by doing loads of campaign missions and getting 5 stars for them. I believe you need somewhere around 340 campaign stars to get the 50 years bonus.
