This one's all about the items. Beware, there are no discounts here, so grinding that little bit extra is a must! On the other hand, there are no hidden taxes or penalties - the price you see is the price you pay! Note that I will not be covering the various medikits, quantities of alcohol, etc. that always appear in this screen. Also, because of the nature of the refresh here, this post will definitely be a one-a-day affair. Much of this information is, admittedly, already in raw and analysed form here: european-war-4.boards.net/thread/587/item-stats-locations However, I wanted to give my own take (in some cases based on personal experience) on the various items which turn up from time to time. Today on my Kindle fire I have: Tiger flag: 465 medals. Requirement: a general or princess (specifically Sakurako) with the Banner skill. When equipped with one of these, all surrounding units get a +1 defence bonus. Just what difference this makes when enemies are hitting you up for between 20 and over 100 hit points, I don't know. I guess it's better than nothing. Propeller: 250 medals. Requirement: a general or princess (quite a few of them) with naval stars. Increases movement by one hex for each propeller fitted (the rules for water movement differ from land). Generals and princesses (specifically Kate) with the Navigation skill benefit the most, as they get an extra hex to start with. Late campaigns, I am told, feature naval action prominently; this item is best saved for then. On my Android tablet right now, the items are different (they almost always are) and I have: Cavalry pistol: 670 medals. Adds +6 bonus attack to the cavalry-skilled general on any cavalry unit (including armoured cars) wielding it. For a full-health general on an armoured car, wielding two, and equipped with assault art, the output can be truly magnificent. Oak wheel: 230. Adds a +1 movement bonus to artillery-skilled generals, the equivalent of one movement star or 1/3 of a hex on flat ground. This plus the more expensive Horse Artillery will give the general who wields both a full extra hex movement on flat ground. In my opinion, it is not worth the money; get the +2 item.

Day 2.
On my Amazon Kindle Fire, I have:
Figurehead: 220 medals. Naval generals can equip this item for 2 defence.
Gaiters: 230 medals. Infantry generals can equip this item for +1 movement, equivalent to 1/3 hex or an extra movement star.
On my Samsung Tablet, I have: On War: 990 medals. Probably the most expensive item there is, this increases your rank when in combat (health points possessed by the general). It is similar in effect to War Master.
Army Tentage: 300 medals. This increases the wearer's health by 4 when stationary out in the field.

Bizarrely enough, the same items are in my shop right now. So, no update until they change.

The shop refreshed at last, and on my Kindle Fire we have:
Propeller: 250. Naval generals get an extra hex movement for their ships. Two maximum.
Bearskin cap: 205. Infantry generals get +2 defence. There is also a +4 defence, for which you should save in preference.
My Android tablet shop has not refreshed from last time.

Long break secondary to life getting in the way and other interests, but now we have:
Armoured Carrier: 305 medals. This is advertised as "Allow land troop battle on the sea without disadvantage", negating the significant damage output penalties that infantry, cavalry and artillery suffer when fighting on water. Is mimicked by the Sailor skill. There are many times when you either want to or have to cross a body of water and land on an opposing shore. Anyone entering or leaving Italy from the Ottoman empire, Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, Africa and the South of France, from Spain to Africa, around Scandinavia, or Britain to ANYWHERE, might be faced with the hassle of having to fight onshore units while still on the water. If this is the case, Armoured Carrier is your ideal weapon. The recovery of attack ability you get from it is easily worth losing one attack item. If you've got Sophia on rocket artillery and you have her trained up enough (especially with maybe another artillery star or two), she can frequently one-shot coastal batteries and wipe them out without ever taking return fire (Isabela is also potent, but Sophia has the Spy skill which gives her a 50% bonus against coastal guns and all fortresses).
Concrete: 125 medals. Fortress defence +2. If you play fortresses a lot, or you've got a particular campaign mission that demands a fortress with an appropriately-skilled general in it hold out, this is probably useful. But I've never played that way, and I don't know of anyone better than me who does either. The aim is to keep moving, not to lock a general up in a static position. For this reason, I don't recommend the item for general purchase.

Today we have:
Gilding Cuirass: 465 medals. +4 defence for the cavalry general wearing it. I have been considering this item but have not yet bought it. It would seem that if you have one cavalry pistol for +6 attack, this would be a good item to carry along with it. Then again, I'm more inclined to save up for a second cavalry pistol and give my elite cav general a super-heavy punch.
Dragon Flag: 745 medals. +2 attack to every friendly unit surrounding the general carrying it (the general needs the Banner skill, e.g. Sakurako). From what I understand of the damage output formula, I fail to see what +2 can add to units which at full health can already deal 20 or 30 or more, unless the formula we know is faulty and mis-states what this +2 does to the output and where in the formula it is applied. As things stand, it can surely only have a statistical, incremental effect over time... but if that's the case, why is it so expensive? The trouble with these items is that so few of us use them and so few data exist as a result.

Today, we have: Crown: 925 medals. This item MASSIVELY increases your Nobility, and is best utilised when playing a nobility grind such as the Chain the Beast grind. Some people think this unnecessary, but that's if you have the patience to grind all the way up without help. Some of us lack that, and find grinding for medals easier. I found the Golden Staff first, which is less effective but also substantially cheaper. I've got better things to shop for now, and most of my nobility grinding is already behind me, but if you are doing pay-to-play or you have ground so many medals you don't know what to do with them, and you want to level your generals up faster, give it a whirl. This is definitely an item you want to get relatively early in order to get most use out of it. When you are done with it (i.e. after you have got Lan and Victoria to max nobility), play Battle of Austerlitz in the Coalition campaign; Emperor Alexander I of Russia is one of your starting generals and he has five trade stars. Clear a path for him into Vienna or Prague and then you can sell it in the store at its best return value. Trooper sabre: 80 medals. From the sublime to the ridiculous, this incredibly cheap item raises cavalry attack by +1. In a hilarious typo, they advertise it as "Calvary attack +1" - perhaps this is what Jesus meant when he advised those of his disciples who did not have swords to sell their cloaks and buy one? (Luke 22:36)

It is similar in effect to War Master. pathdoc,Is it worth it? IMO, it is not worth it especially if you're using Medals to upgrade your gens' Ranks and/or Nobility. For ppl who prefer to grinder and slowly regroup, your endgame gens will have numerous trainers regrouped into them and numerous front line opportunities. Their Ranks should rise fairly quickly and be enough when the time comes. On War is still not really a must for this group as well.

It is similar in effect to War Master. pathdoc,Is it worth it? For all items in the daily shop: Check first, when you can buy the Items in the campaign- in the campaign every business β will give you 4% discount. Yes, On war is the most expensive item. It tripples your war experience. (+200%) Do not spend medals to upgrade your rank! 1π equals 60 HP of dammage your general deals (with On war: 1π = 20HP) there is no way to save or farm π this easy. I played 3 or 4 conquests with fresh Isabella, having only the Snair Drum and On War as her Items, the effect was noticeable and she has now already 98HP - this is a great difference but it shows the problem: If you have an attack Item and you need the snair - you won't have a free hand for On War. (You only gain experience for your attacks, so on the AI turn On War has no effect) So On War and the Crown are great Items for grinding, during the normal gameplay there usage becomes limited with more items you have. I personally buy top items in the shop: (+6 Atk, Snair 2-4, Crown and On War. If you need to push your Headquarter bonus, a Nobility grind is the fastest way to get more years.

Guess I should do a bit of grinding before getting it (definetly not now as its very expensive) Yes, it is not important during the normal gameplay. With the daily rewards the 'grinding for π' is not more necessary. In combination with the π you earn in the campaign, you will have plenty enough all the time. If you don't waste πu on useless generals.Snairs (β2 - β4), the +6 potent gunpowder and +6 pistols I buy in the daily shop, if offered. But I have a 5β
trader, so I can resell and buy again my war horse anytime without loss, if I need quickly more π.

On War: 990 medals. Probably the most expensive item there is, this increases your rank when in combat (health points possessed by the general). It is similar in effect to War Master. pathdoc,Is it worth it? Imo it is definitely worth buying if you have a good trading gen (doesnβt have to be 5*, Isabella can work). If you do use Isabella (with 3*), then you will lose a max of 132 medals after you sell it back. However, if you keep it to the end when you have a 5* trader, youβll lose just 79 medals. But anyway, I do recommend it as grinding rank takes forever, and this makes it so much more manageable. The crown I would not recommend as nobility grinding is much easier, and can even be done using an autoclicker.
