Hi
I played for about 2 weeks, got as far as 3rd age, realised I'd wasted a lot of resources so have just started again and am in the 2nd age.
Is there an existing thread discussing the wisest things to spend medals on or if not would anyone like to start one i.e. which generals, equipment etc?
I'm not looking for a total hand-holding guide and am no fan of spoilers either, but I've learned the hard way that a few bad decisions can cost a lost of time on easytech games!
Fyi I don't spend real money on these games and so far I've bought Moctezuma on this second go and that's it.

Thanks Oda.
I'd seen some of the links but not the one with the XL extracts, v useful.
Why is the final line-up so important? I've seen a few references to it but not having got that far don't understand it yet. Are you stuck with generals once you've bought them, and are you limited in how many you can have?
iirc in GoG2 or WC3 you could sell them back, although for less than you paid for them.

In EW5, you can't sell gens, or at least no one HAD talked about selling gens. That means they stick with you to the end. The final line-up acts as a guide to who you want to consider hiring & should consider. You are limited in the number of gens you can USE in campaigns, conquests & domination, so getting the right gens to build a line-up that suit your style can go a long way. You also shouldn't be wasting medals playing mix-&-match to see which gens work, which don't. By considering the final line-up, you can picture who should belong in the final team that'll conquer the hardest stages of the game.

I see what you're getting at, I'd mainly been considering the purchase price but if you're going to have to spend 000s of medals upgrading your generals then you want to make sure they're the right ones. I'll have to do a bit of studying on their "super powers" and how they work and compliment each other Thanks again dude.

I'm thinking of wasting some coins as I've got about 200k.

Yes, You can have all of them. Adding on to andrei's point, you can get all of them... once you've no need for medals (aka all your important gen lvls are maxed out, skills maxed out & whatever necessary equipment bought).

How many gens do we need for the final line up?
Also I've got 78 scrolls and need 250 to upgrade to discovery era, do I need to play conquest to get a decent amount of them?
I could be looking at around 16 days to acquire them naturally through daily missions.

So decide what's Your lineup should be (archer/cavalry/infantry focused) and upgrade only the generals You are planning to use in the end-game.

To ans your farming scrolls/literature question, people recommend farming by continuously playing Classic Age Greece. Second best by other members is India in either Medival or Empire, probably Medival. _______________________________________________ As a bonus, when clearing conquests as each * tier nation for each Age, try to play as nations that reward you with literature. _______________________________________________ Also, some campaigns have special bonus targets in green halos. Usually these mean a reward in some form (many of which are Empire mode resources). Remember to look out for these targets when playing through campaigns. However, they can only be captured once (for resources). Other special/bonus targets that are permanent will only reward you by helping you out in that specific campaign.

...Jebe is maybe not the greatest against invasion, but this archer that can continuously shoot what gives much more time and destroys leftovers and finally gives oportunity to move . I bought also Yi Sun sin, but he'll have to wait till Discovery age. Three archers. In discovery they'll get: Nobu twice Shot, Yi anti archer arrows, rest I'm not sure if smth. important.

So only 3 archers required for final line up? Also what do you mean by "this archer that can continuously shoot"?
