In what treaty were the modern ideas of political borders between nations established? Umm... Treaty of Paris! *cough* jk There's like over 20 treaties of Paris in history. Okay, more serious answer... the Vienna Congress? Edit: I'm not certain what time frame the answer to your question would be in. It could be early as 1500s or recent as 1899 (treaty of Hague, but that's for the treatment of prisoners of war, and other things related to conduct of warfare). Edited to add spacing and clarification to make reading easier.

Before this point in the 12th century, borders were established based solely on what the most prevalent culture was.

Heres a bit of a hint I guess Before this point in the 12th century, borders were established based solely on what the most prevalent culture was. Crap... the only treaty I can think of anywhere near that time is the Magna Carta, but that's definitely not it.
