Nah Calgary winter you should see when it comes. good old Canadian winter but we are always ready. Hold on everyone, before you guys add more examples of snow more than an inch... But do you have palm trees? Palm trees being covered by light snow? This thread is not about the amount of snow, but rather the presence of snow in Florida out of all places. This kind of precipitation happens here only once per 10 to 15 years. This is weird. I didn't expect this winter to be worse than the previous one

I didn't expect this winter to be worse than the previous one Oh, we did, we all knew. We've dealt with massive amounts of snow before in something called "Snowvember" in 2014 where the snow was so horrible, we got a week off school, work, everything. There are a couple things you should look for in the Fall to see how bad the winter will be: 1. Temperature. If it's late September and you're still getting 70 degree weather, and you live near some sort of body of water that's of some size, be prepared for a harsh winter. This is due to something called Lake Effect Snow, and the basic thing you need to know about it is that high temperatures in autumn plus body of water equals harsh harsh winter. 2. Pay attention to bugs. This sounds like a weird tip, but seriously, pay attention to the bugs near your house. If it's September and you see ants and bees and spiders all of a sudden infect your house, that's because they have some sort of instinct that tells them that winter is coming and to get inside. So basically, if you see a lot of bugs in your house, specifically the basement, be prepared for a harsh winter. 3. Precipitation. If it's raining a lot in late October/November, get ready for a lot of snow because the only reason it isn't snowing then is because the temperature isn't cold enough yet.

Is this because the hot temperature evaporates more water from the lake, or sea, and that water then becomes snow later on?

One day, in September schools were closed due to extreme heat. I guess winter will be harsh here, too.
