It's either a feast or a famine - you either have the generals or the medals for them, but rarely both.
I have Dumouriez, Sophia, Kate, Isabela, Sakurako, Maria. All are at maximum nobility, and Sophia is at maximum rank (not surprisingly, as she is the first I got). Fatimah got regrouped when I still thought I was going to be a four-slot player, and now I regret this; she is not very powerful, but she has economic skills and she is good when playing relaxed, slow conquests with smaller, poorer nations. Dumouriez gets regrouped the day I get Lan.
Sophia and Isabela are artillerists par excellence, Sophia especially for fort smashing, Isabela for everything else (plus she has Geography, so she's fast as hell). Dumouriez is an outstanding Cavalryman; Sakurako has been boosted up to the same level of power. Maria is a little on the weak side - she never seems to hit very hard or take damage well when in combat, but she is useful to have around as an extra infantry general in campaign mode. She might get regrouped the day I get Victoria.

The thing is, she's my only inf general so Im not too sure if I'll just have to try my look at getting Victoria or maybe buy Dobeln. I also regret saying that I bought my 3rd slot, and I feel like I'm cheating a bit..but I needed a spare slot for buying generals and regrouping them.

Eugene, buying slots ain't cheating when you need one.
I have Maria waiting to join, but to me she is just a slot waste. Also, consider Picton,he's a good cheap t2 infrantry general, fast and keeps up with the cavarly generals.

You got Lan before Victoria? I always assumed she would be the hardest to get since she is the best general I in the game. I got her through the American conquest. My best is 31 turns for Holy Roman Empire 1798, so I think I'm almost there! In how many turns did you complete the conquest? Also, any tips to help me out?

30 turns for America 1775 (I played as the US). It's been a while, so I can't really remember how I did it, though.

Here's my lineup: With it I've been able to do well, but I'm trying to get Victoria right now. I had Dumoriez for a while, but recently regrouped him into Lan. How do you have 10 slots when I only have 4?

How do you have 10 slots when I only have 4? They're bought using IAP. Some recommend using IRL $$ to buy 1 - 2 extra slots for more fun because 4 slots is very limiting. In the end, it's up to you really.

Unless you perform VERY poorly (more than 150 turns), you CAN unlock them. Then save up your medals. Domouriez can get you far into the game until a new & important princess comes or you need space for more trainers.

He'll help you get more stars in the campaigns thus more medals, you should also be able to finish the conquests in fewer turns thereby obtaining princesses, and he's a trainer so he has value when you regroup him when he's no longer needed.

thanks folks...just to clarify, I've cleared Europe 1778 in 58 turns, and saved just before last turn and I've now cleared 3 emperors, but no princess. in previous attempts at game I received both Fatima and Sophia after clearing 1778 in 63 turns

After this, it's a long grind to get the "higher tier" princesses. For now, work towards Kate, clear some campaigns & train up your gens.
