Yeah in EFC you can visit and browse everything but just can't post as a guest, (although on special occasions even guests can post) so visitors can make an informed decision to register or not,it used to be that way on VK for years but they just changed that  What is Baidu? I hear people talking about it all the time, but never know what they mean? Baidu is kind of the Chinese equivalent to Google. Search engine, apps, that kind of thing. I used to use their forums quite frequently to keep in touch with overseas friends. Something I found to be interesting is *alot* of people will be skeptical that you're actually overseas. I've gotten one or two PMs using the service from people who thought I was Chinese. Really bizarre. |

Pardon my question but what is the utility of this thread, is it just for making random comments and asking questions or is it actueally related to the show Star Trek ?

Hobo Joe, a lot of people don't think that others can be very much interested in the exact same thing they are just because they are different or from a different part of the world. The second point is that it's extremely common for people to pretend to be someone else, this is true in all forums and all communities, they don't necessarily do it with nefarious intent, it could be just for fun or out of convenience or other mild intents. So being checked out is not really weird imo, it means someone found you interesting, fun or intriguing in some way and they are just making sure they are not being "played".

The thread is basically a relaxed medium with no subject. Normally on any boards people insist that when you post it has to be "on topic". This thread has the "random designation" so can be of any topic. By tradition who ever starts the new random thread (it ends on page 99) has naming rights (can call it whatever) but must include the word "random" and the number of past random threads in the title. |
