well all these sports mentioned are only popular in america.. i mean lacrosse??? WAT THE HECK IS THAT?!? and baseball... not popular in europe as well.. basketbal, thats with those dunksn right? and rugby, only new sealand and america seems to love it. so i had to choose soccer although I prefer other sports espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/19814/is-basketball-taking-over-the-worldThat says basketball is the most popular sport worldwide. And Rugby isn't even played in America as far as I know. Football is American yes, but baseball is becoming very popular in Japan.

Rugby and Football have the same origin and a similar concept. Rugby is a bigger more egg shaped ball that men in short shorts pass around and try to muscle their way across a field. When they find that 5 dudes are in front of them they pass it back to a team mate who then does the same thing. There are no pads and these guys are getting slammed into by 250 pound dudes. It has no strategy as far as I can see. Run, get hit, pass it back, repeat.

well, the biggest problem is that EVERY list got ANOTHER order... most list shows football (good one so with foot) is at 1. but I also saw a list that showed cricket as number 1. I can imagine that, cricket is only popular in India and that got a population of billions so it can be number 1....

I play WC3, Glory of Generals (also the Pacific version), Chess, that weird parking game that they made, Castle under Siege, WC2, European war 4, soccer, basketball. Not to mention the black belt in Karate, given by Sensei Richard Amos from the World Traditional Karate Organisation. I'm basically an armchair general, but then a dangerous one
