I currently have Manstein,Guderian, Govorov, and Patton. I have 2600 medals. Any solid advice on who to go after next? I also notice that when I am on the missions page, a clock is running and the year progresses. I spend a lot of time looking over the Generals, comparing to decide who to take next. Is this going to cause a problem with the year being progressed to 1949? Thank you for any help Read more: european-war-4.boards.net/thread/8327/newer-player-looking-advice-veterans#ixzz56SBSpVID

U have 3 tank commander, 1 artillery, so a navy general is most logical one. U ll need a navy general for getting 3 star in pacific missions. Nimitz with full discount is around 1700 medals. After getting him u ll save 1000 medals for promoting their skills. I think promoting skills is more important than getting a lot of generals. I have 6 generals leeb-guderian-rommel-konev-rundstedt-nimitz and i m in UN missions, this team ll be enough for finishing game i think. U ll need 6 generals for scenarios, having a lot of them only give u a tactical advantage for different missions. I couldnt understand your question about clock timing. Could it be investigations or military parades for recources?

When I go to the missions page to look at the Generals in the academies, the time continues to progress. I have spent so much time looking over the different generals and I noticed the year has professed to 1949. Is that going to make a problem for me in game?

i appreciate the advice.I don't understand the part about getting Nimitz for a discount at 1700. He is 3090 at the academy.

There are 2 paths in this thread under the <Generals> spoiler. They help players build a full line-up involving ECs (eye covered gens).
You can also try looking for the best few gens if you are going for a pure academy gen line-up.

I picked up Manstein, Eisenhower and Zhukov.
I also have Guderian....Patton...Govorov.
I am studying Manstein's tutorial to plan out any further needed Generals.
Manstein, what a awesome job on those tutorials, great reading and resources!!
Generals I am considering:
Yamamoto....not sure if needed due to Eisenhower
Rommel...third tank
Konev...not sure if needed due to Zhukov But nice infantry use as well.
Goring...nice air General...with survival
Vasilevsky.....Aliens.....slow general
Yamashita...nice fast infantry
Bai.....fast Artillery
Donitz.....subs.....sadly no supply skill
Not sure if any of the above are needed.
I would appreciate any suggestions on who would be best to pick up from here so as not to waste medals on any generals not needed due to Manstein..Zhukov and Eisenhower.
Thank you

Still looking for good advice on if I need more generals than just the 6 I have. I notice on forums some seem to say 6 is enough, but it seems some of the mission require different general types.
Thinking of adding
Goring Rommel Konev Yamamoto Bai Yamashita

You do not need another tank general, so that rules out Rommel. If you plan on using Zhukov as an artillery general then get an infantry, but if you want to use him more as an infantry general then go for artillery. You also don't need anymore navy generals. I think for you goring is a good choice since Eisenhower will probably be on a carrier so you could use a land-air general, also goring can serve as a infantry general since he has 3 star infantry ability and has 280 health. Bonus: he has those random perks that other generals you will get dont typically have so he can be useful in those random missions scattered around the map.

I really appreciate the advice. I've noticed in missions, even though I have 6 very nice generals, that sometimes there is a need for a couple different ones, depending on the scenario.. I was wondering about Goring and Konev or Bai.....Govorov is awesome but he is slow in conquest. It appears a great air general helps in conquest by taking the next air city and running that general there to take out the next city. At the moment I use Eisenhower for that. Then there is always the thought of just saving medals to make a EC. I'm looking for the plan that makes best use of medals....still thinking this over. 3200 medal at the moment.
Thank you for taking the time to help.

I wouldn't recommend upgrading ec generals until you have at least one of the medal monuments

I'm having a difficult time passing battle of Okinawa. Considering getting Yamamoto to help with missions.
I'm still considering also picking up Goring and Konev.
It appears that some say getting more than 6 generals is a waste of medals, but it appears different extra generals help pass certain situations.
Others generals I am looking over are:
Goring Yamamoto Konev Bai Donitz Nimitz Vasliesky

added Goring
Generals now
Guderian Patton Govorov Mantstein Zhukov Eisenhower Goring
Can't complete naval missions with Eisenhower due to no fleet leader.
Contemplating
Yamamoto
Others on possible wish list
Konev Donitz....if he had supply would be best Navy general by far. Rommel
